Daily End of Day Maintenance

What you need

  • Polyester head cleaning swab
  • Lint-free cloth
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Cleaning solution
  • Paper towels
  • Small cup
  • Protective gloves
  1. Press the left arrow key once, then press and hold to move the carriage to the left.
  2. Open the left side cover and bottom panel to access the print head.
  3. Pour a small amount of cleaning solution into a cup.
  4. Dip a cleaning swab into the solution and remove excess liquid.
  5. Apply cleaning solution around the print head, avoiding direct contact with the print head face.
  6. Use a dry swab or lint-free cloth to remove excess solution.
  7. Clean the surrounding area so the wiper blade does not push old ink onto the print head.
  8. Move to the right side of the printer.
  9. Clean ink buildup around the capping station and wiper blade using a swab and lint-free cloth.
  10. Soak the wiper blade surface with cleaning solution.
  11. Remove dried ink carefully to prevent clogging.
  12. For heavy buildup, soak first, then wipe clean.
  13. Wear gloves and avoid pushing the wiper blade too hard.
  14. Clean the entire top of the capping station.
  15. Press the enter button to cap the print head.
  16. Optionally fill the capping station caps with leftover cleaning solution without overfilling.
  17. Alternatively, use the wet cap button, noting it may overfill.
  18. Clean any spilled solution as needed.
  19. Close all covers.
  20. If used daily, turn off the printer.
  21. If used weekly, leave the printer on but turn off: Heaters
  22. Check ink inventory daily, especially white ink and cleaning solution.

Weekly Maintenance

What you need

  • Polyester head swab
  • Cleaning solution
  • Small cup
  • Isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher)
  • Lint-free cloth
  • Paper towels
  • Gloves
  1. Open all three top printer covers.
  2. Apply isopropyl alcohol to a lint-free cloth.
  3. Clean the encoder strip gently.
  4. Move the carriage to the left and clean the home position.
  5. Press the up button to move the film out of the printer bed.
  6. Wipe the printer bed and media guides with a lint-free cloth and alcohol.
  7. Do not pour alcohol directly onto the bed or vacuum holes.
  8. Clean one side of the pinch rollers using a dry cloth.
  9. Perform this regularly to prevent heavy residue buildup.
  10. Clean the paper sensor below the back platen using alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
  11. Clean the film takeup sensor face to remove dust and debris.
  12. Empty the waste ink container weekly.
  13. Test the waste ink alarm as needed to prevent overspills.

Waste Ink Disposal Guidelines

  2. Consult professional disposal services or recycling centers if required.
  3. Since the ink is water-based, disposal is generally easier.
  4. One option is to pour waste ink into damaged garments and allow it to dry.
  5. Once dried, the ink can be treated as general waste.
  6. Another option is to use a water-based paint hardener.
  7. Mix the hardener into the ink until solid.
  8. Dispose of the solidified ink as general waste.

After Weekly Maintenance

Monthly or As-Needed Maintenance

  1. If you hear squeaking, apply grease to the carriage rail.
  2. Move the print head to the left to access the rail and home position reels.
  3. After lubrication, press enter to return the carriage home.
  4. Confirm the print head is properly seated on the capping station.
  5. Empty the waste ink bottle as needed.
  6. Test the waste ink alarm and replace the battery if required.
  7. Clean pinch rollers regularly using a dry cloth or water only.
  8. Do not use isopropyl alcohol on rubber rollers.
  9. Perform daily and weekly maintenance tasks as needed.
  10. Clean the printer bed.
  11. Check media length.
  12. Fill ink bottles up to 50%.
  13. Avoid overfilling if inks will sit unused for long periods.
  14. Store ink in original bottles to extend lifespan.
  15. Opened inks are typically usable for at least 6 months.

Fill Ink Process

  1. Go to the printer control panel and press Menu.
  2. Navigate down to Head Maintenance.
  3. Select Fill Ink and press Enter.
  4. Select Forehead All and press Enter again.
  5. Run the Fill Ink process for 2 minutes.
  6. During the process, monitor the waste ink tubes to confirm ink is flowing.
  7. Verify that both black and white ink are flowing into the waste ink tube.
  8. After 2 minutes, press Cancel.
  9. Press the Cleaning button to begin head cleaning.

Head Cleaning Verification

  1. During the cleaning process, open the front cover.
  2. Check that the print head carriage is moving correctly.
  3. Verify that the wiper blade is moving properly.
  4. Confirm there is no ink spillage outside the capping station caps.
  5. Once the first cleaning cycle is complete, press the Cleaning button again.
  6. Allow the second cleaning cycle to complete.
  7. Close the printer cover.

Nozzle Check

  1. Ensure your PC is connected to Hosonsoft and the status indicator is green.
  2. Press the Nozzle Check button on the printer control panel.
  3. Wait until the status shows the print has completed at 100%.
  4. Open the front middle cover.
  5. Inspect the nozzle check pattern.

Nozzle Check Evaluation

  1. A correct nozzle check should appear clean and continuous.
  2. In the example shown, two channels are missing on Head 4: Second white channel
  3. Your result should look similar to Head 3 or be at least 90% complete.

Troubleshooting

  1. If the nozzle check is below 90%, perform an additional Fill Ink for 30 seconds.
  2. Cancel the Fill Ink process.
  3. Perform two head cleanings.
  4. You may selectively choose a single head for Fill Ink and head cleaning in Hosonsoft.

  6. If nozzle performance does not improve, contact DTFS Station Technical Support.

6 Month White Channel Maintenance

SECTION 1

This procedure addresses white ink thickening and buildup in dampers, tubes, and print head nozzles. Performing this maintenance every six months helps prevent clogging and ink flow issues. Gaining Access

Steps

  1. Locate the ink bay.
  2. Remove five screws total.
  3. Remove the ink bay cover. SECTION 2 Disconnecting the White Ink Container
  4. Locate the white ink container.
  5. Tighten the cap on the container.
  6. Close the valve.
  7. Cut the zip tie using scissors.
  8. Follow the cable to the connector and unplug it.
  9. Follow the cables through the side hole to the outside of the ink bay.
  10. Disconnect the two cables.
  11. Pull the cable out from the top.
  12. Disconnect the split cable connection.
  13. Remove the ink tubes using scissors to pry them open.
  14. Remove each tube by hand.
  15. Wrap each tube end with a paper towel and secure with tape to prevent ink spillage.
  16. Remove the entire ink container from the ink bay.
  17. Open the cap and dispose of remaining ink according to local regulations. SECTION 3 Cleaning the Ink Container
  18. Move to a sink.
  19. Avoid getting electrical cables wet.
  20. Rinse the container with water and dispose of rinse water properly.
  21. Repeat rinsing several times.
  22. Remove the white ink stirrer by removing two screws.
  23. Rotate the stirrer as needed and pull it out.
  24. Rinse and clean the stirrer.
  25. Add a small amount of water to the container.
  26. Use a cleaning swab to scrape solidified ink from the bottom.
  27. Dispose of contaminated water.
  28. Repeat until all solidified ink is removed.
  29. Perform a final rinse.
  30. Allow the container and connectors to fully dry. SECTION 4 Draining the Ink Lines
  31. Turn the printer on while cables are drying.
  32. Locate the top white ink tube.
  33. Remove tape and paper towel from the tube end.
  34. Place the tube into the waste ink container.
  35. Set white ink circulation to maximum power.
  36. Turn circulation on.
  37. Observe ink flow until only air exits the tube.
  38. Turn circulation off.
  39. Lower circulation power.
  40. Turn the printer off.
  41. Shake a new white ink bottle for 30 seconds.
  42. Let the bottle rest for at least 5 minutes. SECTION 5 Reassembly
  43. Reinstall the ink stirrer by rotating it into position.
  44. Secure it with two screws.
  45. Place the ink container back into the ink bay.
  46. Reconnect the top tube fully.
  47. Reconnect the second tube fully.
  48. Route the cable through the inner ink bay hole.
  49. If cables contacted water, allow them to dry for 24 hours.
  50. Optionally wipe connectors with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
  51. Connect split cable connectors.
  52. Plug the routed cable into the correct port.
  53. Confirm cable routing matches reference.
  54. Reinstall the ink bay cover loosely for now. SECTION 6 Ink Charge
  55. Fill the ink container with white ink.
  56. Puncture two holes in the ink bottle.
  57. Close the container cap loosely.
  58. Open the valve.
  59. Set white ink circulation intensity to 100 percent.
  60. Run one full circulation cycle.
  61. Turn circulation off.
  62. Lower circulation power.
  63. Perform fill ink for 1 minute on H2.
  64. Open the right side cover.
  65. Confirm the H2 pump is running.
  66. Check the waste ink tube for white ink flow.
  67. After fill ink completes, perform two head cleanings.
  68. Run a nozzle check. SECTION 6A Manual Ink Pull if White Ink Is Not Recovered
  69. Rotate the H2 pump counterclockwise to remove it.
  70. Locate the tube leading to the capping station.
  71. Disconnect the tube connector.
  72. Attach a syringe to the tube.
  73. Pull the syringe fully and hold to create negative pressure.
  74. Repeat two to three times.
  75. Pull at least 20 ml of ink each time.
  76. Hold the syringe plunger while disconnecting to prevent spillage.
  77. Reconnect the tube.
  78. Tighten the connector clockwise.
  79. Ensure the tube is straight with no twists.
  80. Reinstall the pump and rotate clockwise to lock. SECTION 7 Final Steps
  81. Turn the printer on.
  82. Perform two consecutive head cleanings.
  83. Run a nozzle check.
  84. Confirm nozzle pattern is correct.
  85. Secure the ink bay cover with five screws.
  86. Close the right side panel.
  • Three screws on the front
  • One screw on each side
  • This cable connects to the white ink stirrer.
  • Match black to black and white to white.
  • One for ink flow
  • One for air flow

Six month white channel maintenance is now complete.
