Purpose of Checking Windows Updates

  1. Check for Windows updates, including Microsoft components, before installing CADlink products.
  2. Check for updates again after installation.
  3. Understand that CADlink products rely on Windows and Microsoft components for proper operation.
  4. Contact IT support or an operating system technician if assistance is required.

Accessing Windows Update Settings

  1. Click the Windows button.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Click Update and Security.
  4. Wait for the Windows Update window to appear.

Enabling Microsoft Component Updates

  1. Click Advanced options.
  2. Locate Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows.
  3. Ensure the toggle is turned on.
  4. Click Back to return to the Windows Update screen.

Checking for Updates

  1. Click Check for updates.
  2. Allow the system to search for available updates.
  3. Wait for all updates to download and install.

Restarting and Verifying Update Completion

What you need

  • All Windows updates installed
  • Microsoft components fully updated
  • System reports “You’re up to date”
  • Updates verified both before and after CADlink installation
  1. When prompted, click Restart to reboot the computer.
  2. After restart, repeat the Check for updates process.
  3. Continue checking until the message “You’re up to date” appears.
  4. Close the Windows Update window once completed.
