Applicable Models and Blue Light Meaning

  3. Locate the blue light on the power supply: Steady blue light indicates normal operation.
  • No blue light indicates the power supply may be malfunctioning.
  • Blinking blue light indicates an error is detected.

Important Note About Blinking Light Behavior

  2. The blue light does not blink simply because a wire is disconnected.
  3. Use this behavior to isolate which connected printer part is causing the blinking error by testing cable pairs one at a time.

Identify Power Supplies on XL3 and XL4

  1. On Prestige XL3 and XL4, identify the power supplies: Top unit is 36V power supply.
  • Middle unit is 24V power supply.
  • Bottom unit is 42V power supply.

Initial Test Setup for a Blinking Power Supply

  1. Turn the printer on.
  2. Observe which power supply has a blinking blue light.
  3. For this procedure example, assume the 24V power supply is blinking.

Remove All Peripheral Cables (Leave Bottom Three Connected)

  1. Take a clear photo of all cables and labels on the power supply.
  2. Turn the printer off.
  3. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove all cables except the three cables at the very bottom.

Screw Terminal Cable Removal and Installation Technique

  1. To unplug a cable: Rotate the screw counterclockwise to loosen.
  2. To plug in a cable: Keep the screw loosened.
  • Slide the U-shaped connector to the left to remove.
  • Slide the U-shaped connector under the screw.
  • Rotate the screw clockwise to tighten.

Determine If Power Supply Is Faulty

  1. With all peripheral cables removed (except the bottom three), turn the printer on.
  2. If the blue light is still blinking: The power supply is malfunctioning.
  3. If the blue light is steady: The power supply is operating correctly.
  • One of the disconnected parts is likely causing the error.

Identify the Malfunctioning Peripheral by Reconnecting One Pair at a Time

  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Connect one peripheral cable pair to the power supply.
  3. Each peripheral uses a pair of cables: One red cable and one blue cable.
  4. Identify matching pairs by cable labels: Example: WK24V+ pairs with WK24V-.
  5. Turn the printer on and observe the blue light: If steady, the connected part is not the issue.
  6. Repeat this process for each cable pair until the blinking light returns.
  7. Once identified, pause on the chart in the video to confirm which cable pair matches which part.
  • If blinking, the connected part is the issue.

Post-Replacement Verification

  1. After replacing the identified part, turn the printer on.
  2. Confirm the power supply blue light changes from blinking to steady.

Replace the 36V Power Supply (XL3 / XL4)

  1. Remove the entire back panel by pulling the prong down to release it.
  2. Take a clear photo of all cables with labels visible.
  3. Remove all cables by loosening screw terminals and sliding U-shaped connectors left.
  4. Remove the bottom left screw.
  5. Loosen the top right screw.
  6. Remove the power supply.
  7. Position the new power supply so the top right prong slides onto the top right screw.
  8. Tighten the top right screw to hold the power supply.
  9. Install the bottom left screw.
  10. Using the reference photo, reconnect all cables: Slide the U-shaped connector under the screw.
  11. Follow the same steps to replace the 24V and 42V power supplies.
  • Tighten the screw.

Replace the Control Panel Board

  1. Open the side panel to access the backside of the control panel board.
  2. Take a photo of the control panel board and all cable connections.
  3. Remove four screws at the corners of the board.
  4. Detach the board.
  5. Remove all cables.
  6. Use a precision flathead screwdriver for the six wired screw-terminal connections.
  7. If needed, take another photo ensuring wire labels are visible.
  8. Loosen each screw terminal counterclockwise and pull out each wire.
  9. Install the new control panel board.
  10. Reconnect all cables using reference photos.
  11. For the six screw-terminal wires: Tighten screws as hard as possible.
  12. Mount the board using the four screws from earlier.
  • Perform a tug test to confirm secure connection.

Replace the Ink Alarm Board (Demonstrated on XL2)

  1. Remove one screw on each side of the ink bay.
  2. Remove the three front screws.
  3. Remove the top cover to access the ink alarm board.
  4. Remove two screws to detach the ink alarm board.
  5. Since the cables are not labeled: Transfer one cable at a time from the old board to the new board.
  6. Secure the new ink alarm board using the two screws.
  7. Reinstall the ink bay cover.
  8. Secure the cover using five screws.

XL2 Power Supply Identification and Shared Steps

  1. On Prestige XL2, two power supplies are stacked: 24V on top.
  2. Use the following steps for either replacement.
  • 42V on bottom.

XL2 Power Supply Access and Bracket Removal

  1. Remove the entire back panel by pulling the prong down to release it.
  2. Take a clear photo of the cables with labels visible.
  3. Rotate labels if needed so the writing faces you in the photo.
  4. Remove all cables by loosening screw terminals and sliding U-shaped connectors left.
  5. Remove the two screws holding the power supply bracket frame.
  6. Remove the bracket assembly from the printer.
  7. Note each power supply is secured to the bracket by four screws: Two on top.
  • Two on bottom.

Replace the 24V Power Supply on XL2

  1. Remove two top screws securing the 24V power supply to the bracket.
  2. Remove two bottom screws securing the 24V power supply to the bracket.
  3. Remove the 24V power supply.
  4. Position the new 24V power supply onto the bracket.
  5. Secure it with two screws on top and two screws on bottom.
  6. Reinstall the bracket assembly into the printer using two screws.
  7. Reconnect all cables using the reference photo.
  8. Reinstall the back panel: Insert the bottom pin first.
  9. Close the back panel.
  • Pull the top pin down to position the panel.
  • Release the pin to secure.

Replace the 42V Power Supply on XL2

  1. From the prior steps, ensure the power supply bracket is removed.
  2. Remove two top screws and two bottom screws securing the 42V power supply to the bracket.
  3. Remove the 42V power supply from the bracket.
  4. Do not lose the two L brackets positioned between the bracket and the power supply.
  5. Take a clear photo of all cable labels on the 42V power supply.
  6. Loosen screw terminals and remove all cables.
  7. Position the new 42V power supply.
  8. Use an L bracket as a temporary mount to hold the power supply in place: Attach one L bracket to the bottom right of the power supply using a screw.
  9. Reconnect all cables using the reference photo.
  10. Remove the temporary L bracket from the printer, then from the power supply.
  11. Assemble the power supply bracket system: Position one L bracket on the top left of the power supply.
  12. Secure the assembly with two screws on top and two screws on bottom.
  13. Reinstall the bracket into the printer using two screws.
  14. Reconnect the 24V power supply cables using the reference photo.
  15. Reinstall the back panel: Insert the bottom pin first.
  16. Close the back panel.
  • Secure that L bracket to the back side of the printer.
  • Position another L bracket on the bottom right.
  • Slide the unit into the bracket assembly.
  • Pull the top pin down to position the panel.
  • Release the pin to secure.
