Overview and Applicability

  1. Confirm this procedure applies to Prestige L2, XL2, XL2 Pro, XL3, and XL4 printers.
  2. Ensure the printer is powered on before beginning.

Preparing the Printer

  1. Go to the back of the printer.
  2. Close the white ink line as shown.
  3. Remove four screws from the top of the front cover.
  4. Fully open the front cover.
  5. Press and hold the left arrow key until the carriage moves to the center of the printer bed.
  6. Turn the printer off.

Removing the Carriage and Daughterboard Covers

  1. Remove two screws from each side of the carriage cover.
  2. Remove the carriage cover.
  3. Loosen two screws from each side of the daughterboard cover.
  4. Remove the daughterboard cover.

Disconnecting the Daughterboard

  1. Identify the ink diverter.
  2. Cut and remove the zip tie using scissors.
  3. Cut all white ink tubes above the white dampers.
  4. Remove four screws securing the daughterboard.
  5. Take photos of all cables on the daughterboard for reference.
  6. Disconnect the cables from the daughterboard.
  7. Carefully pull the daughterboard away from the carriage.
  8. Place the daughterboard to the side without pulling on ribbon cables.

Removing the Ink Diverter Assembly

  1. Remove four screws securing the base plate.
  2. Remove the base plate.
  3. Locate and remove two screws near the ink diverter.
  4. Slide the zip tie upward to release it.
  5. Slide the bracket away from the ink diverter to create working space.
  6. Place paper towels underneath the diverter.

Removing Ink Tubes From the Diverter

  1. Use scissors to loosen the W2 ink tube from the diverter.
  2. Pull the W2 tube off by hand.
  3. Loosen the W1 tube.
  4. Plug the open nozzle with your finger before removing the second tube.
  5. Prepare a cup or bowl.
  6. Remove the second tube.
  7. Position the diverter over the cup or bowl.
  8. Release the nozzle to fully drain the diverter.
  9. Repeat this technique to remove all remaining white ink tubes.

Installing the New Ink Diverter

  1. Bring the new ink diverter into position.
  2. Begin reconnecting the ink tubes.
  3. If a tube feels loose, cut the end straight across for a snug fit.
  4. If a tube is difficult to install, soak the tube end in hot water for a few minutes.
  5. Connect the W1 tube to the left side of the diverter.
  6. Connect the W2 tube to the right side of the diverter.
  7. Remove paper towels and clean any spilled ink.

Securing the Diverter and Reassembly

  1. Secure the diverter to the bracket using a zip tie or packing tape.
  2. Secure the bracket using two screws.
  3. Slide the zip tie back to its original position.
  4. Route cables through the opening on the base plate.
  5. Secure the base plate using four screws.

Reinstalling the Daughterboard and Covers

  1. Bring the daughterboard back to the carriage.
  2. Reconnect all cables using the reference photos.
  3. For the two identical cables, connect: Cable labeled 1 to the top port
  4. Secure the daughterboard with four screws.
  5. Reinstall the daughterboard cover.
  6. Tighten four screws.
  7. Unclip all white ink tubes from the front.
  8. Go to the back of the printer and release the white ink line.
  9. Reinstall the carriage cover.
  10. Secure the carriage cover with four screws.
  • Cable labeled 2 to the bottom port

Power On and Verification

  1. Turn the printer back on.
  2. Verify the printer initializes correctly.
  3. Confirm the printer status shows idle.
