Use the diagram to identify: The daughterboard ports (top half of the diagram). If the ribbon cables are original, locate the stickers labeling each cable. Match cable sticker labels to the chart shown on the left of the diagram. The two printheads inside the carriage (printhead diagrams). Identify which cables connect to the top port of the printhead using the chart. Identify which cables connect to the bottom port of the printhead using the chart. Ensure ribbon cable orientation is correct: Blue tape sides must face each other. When inserting into the daughterboard port: Blue tape must be on the specified side shown in the diagram. Contact points (teeth) must face the specified side shown in the diagram. Inspect ribbon cable contact points before installation. Do not use cables with bent, lifted, or damaged contact points. Recognize that damaged contact points can cause printer issues.
Installing R2 Pro Ribbon Cables into the Daughterboard Position the ribbon cable against the port first. Press the ribbon cable straight downward into the port. Use firm, careful pressure to prevent damage to the ribbon cable. Use the L Series diagram as reference for correct cable placement. Identify the printhead sections in the diagram: Top half refers to the color printhead. Identify the daughterboard adapters: Left adapter is for the color printhead. If ribbon cables are original, use the cable stickers to identify each cable. Match the sticker labels to the chart shown on the left of the diagram. Bottom half refers to the white printhead. Right adapter is for the white printhead. Identify which cables connect to the top port of the printhead using the chart. Identify which cables connect to the bottom port of the printhead using the chart. Ensure ribbon cable orientation is correct: Blue tape sides must face each other. When inserting into the daughterboard port: Blue tape must be on the specified side shown in the diagram. Contact points (teeth) must face the specified side shown in the diagram. Inspect ribbon cable contact points before installation. Do not use cables with bent, lifted, or damaged contact points. Position each ribbon cable first. Insert the ribbon cable by applying even pressure across the entire cable. Confirm correct insertion: You should barely see the tips of the contact points when installed correctly.
