Step 1 — Confirm Carriage Home Position

  1. Confirm the printer carriage is docked in the home position above the capping station.
  2. Turn on white ink circulation and test again.
  3. If white ink circulation works after docking: The issue is resolved.
  4. If the carriage is docked and white ink circulation still does not work: Proceed to inspect the PCL board and home position sensor.

Step 1A — Check Home Position Sensor Light on PCL Board

  1. Open the side panel and locate the PCL board.
  2. Locate the home position sensor indicator light on the PCL board.
  3. Understand how the sensor is triggered: A bracket on the side of the carriage pushes down the sensor prong when docked.
  4. If the sensor indicator light is ON: The home position sensor is functioning.
  5. If the sensor indicator light is OFF: Continue to test the sensor.
  • Skip to Step 3.

Step 1B — Test Home Position Sensor Manually

  1. Move the carriage to the left.
  2. Use tape to tape down the home sensor prong.
  3. Return to the PCL board and check the sensor indicator light.
  4. If the light turns ON: The sensor is not the issue.
  5. If the light remains OFF: The sensor may be bad.
  6. To verify wiring: Remove the screw holding the sensor.
  7. If cables are secure and the light is still OFF: Contact your technician to obtain a replacement home position sensor.
  • Rotate to view the sensor.
  • Inspect the cables and confirm they are seated properly.

Step 2 — Replace the Home Position Sensor

  1. Press the left arrow key to move the carriage to the left.
  2. Turn the printer off.
  3. Take a photo of the sensor position so the new sensor can be installed in the same location.
  4. Remove the sensor mounting screw.
  5. Remove glue by tearing it away.
  6. Take a photo of the cable setup for reference.
  7. Pull each cable to remove it from the sensor.
  8. Using a precision screwdriver, remove the two screws that mount the sensor to the bracket.
  9. Install the new sensor onto the bracket using the same two screws.
  10. Reconnect both cables using your reference photo.
  11. If cables do not fit securely: Use pliers to pinch the connector end slightly to tighten the fit.
  12. Reinstall the sensor bracket onto the printer and secure it with the single screw.
  13. Match the sensor location using the photo you took earlier.
  14. Turn the printer on.
  15. Tape down the sensor prong again and confirm the PCL board sensor light turns ON.
  16. If the light turns ON: The home position sensor replacement is successful.
  • Do not pinch too hard or it may not plug in.

Step 3 — Test PCL Board, Power Button, and Control Knob Signals

  1. Go to the side of the printer and watch the PCL board.
  2. Press the white ink circulation power button.
  3. Check if the power button indicator light on the PCL board turns ON.
  4. If the light does NOT turn ON: Suspect either the power button or the PCL board.
  5. If the light turns ON: Exclude the power button as the issue and continue.
  • Replace the power button first.
  • If the issue remains, replace the PCL board.

Step 3A — Test the Control Knob Signal

  1. Keep the power button pressed in.
  2. Rotate the control knob clockwise.
  3. Look through the back opening for the red light indicator.
  4. If you see the red light: Exclude the control knob as the issue.
  5. If you do NOT see the red light: Suspect either the control knob or the PCL board.
  6. If both the power button and control knob are excluded: The white ink circulation motor is the most likely issue.
  • Replace the control knob first.
  • If the issue remains, replace the PCL board.

Step 4 — Replace the Control Knob Assembly

  1. Loosen the five screws securing the rear panel.
  2. Pull the panel slightly downward, then outward.
  3. Pull the knob straight out to remove it.
  4. Use a wrench or pliers to remove the nut by rotating counterclockwise.
  5. Hold the knob body from the backside to prevent spinning.
  6. Remove the entire control knob assembly.
  7. Remove and retain the increments plate.
  8. Take a photo of the wire setup.
  9. Using a precision screwdriver, loosen the four wire terminal screws.
  10. Remove all four wires.
  11. Install the new control knob assembly.
  12. Reconnect the four wires one-by-one using the reference photo.
  13. Tighten screws until you can lightly tug the wires without movement.
  14. Place the assembly into its original position.
  15. Reinstall the increments plate.
  16. Reinstall and tighten the nut to secure the assembly.
  17. Reinstall the knob.
  18. Align the knob line with the zero increment.
  19. Reinstall the rear panel by placing it on, then pushing upward to lock.
  20. Tighten the five screws.

Step 5 — Replace the Power Button

  1. Loosen the five screws securing the rear panel.
  2. Pull the panel slightly downward, then outward.
  3. Locate the rear of the power button.
  4. Remove the plug by pressing the notch and pulling straight out.
  5. Hold the front of the power button to prevent rotation.
  6. Use pliers to loosen the nut.
  7. Remove the nut by hand.
  8. Push/pull the power button out through the front panel.
  9. Install the replacement power button through the front.
  10. Reinstall and tighten the nut.
  11. Reconnect the plug by aligning holes to prongs and pressing straight in.
  12. Reinstall the rear panel by placing it on, then pushing upward to lock.
  13. Tighten the five screws.

Step 6 — Replace the White Ink Circulation Pump Motor

  1. Loosen the five screws securing the rear panel.
  2. Pull the panel slightly downward, then outward.
  3. Remove the two screws shown to free the motor assembly.
  4. Rotate the attached piece counterclockwise to remove it from the motor assembly.
  5. Cut the zip tie.
  6. Unplug the motor by pressing the notch and pulling the connector apart.
  7. Remove the final two screws to detach the motor from the bracket.
  8. Install the replacement pump motor into the bracket.
  9. Secure it with the two screws.
  10. Reconnect the rotated piece by aligning notches and rotating clockwise to lock.
  11. Secure the motor assembly to the printer using the two screws.
  12. Plug the cable back in.
  13. Reinstall the rear panel by placing it on, then pushing upward to lock.
  14. Tighten the five screws.
