Initial Visual and System Checks

White Ink Circulation Setup

Print Start Position and Nozzle Check

Poor White Nozzle Check Recovery

  8. Run ink charge on H2 for at least 10 seconds.

  13. If nozzle recovery reaches approximately 95%, adjust print start position and begin printing.

Poor Color Nozzle Check Recovery

Heavy Unclogging Procedure

  1. Press Reset to return the carriage to the capping station.
  2. Power off the printer.
  3. Open the right side cover.
  4. Locate the two capping station pumps and tubes.
  5. Identify H1 as the color head pump and H2 as the white head pump.
  6. Detach the tube from the H2 pump.
  7. Hold the connector top and rotate the bottom counterclockwise.
  8. Attach a syringe tightly to the tube.
  9. Pull ink forcefully into the syringe while maintaining pressure.
  10. Repeat manual pulling for at least two full syringes.
  11. Reattach the tube securely, ensuring no twisting.
  12. Repeat the same process for the H1 pump tube.
  13. Power the printer back on.
  14. Run head cleaning.
  15. Run a second head cleaning to fully drain and wipe the heads.
  16. Verify waste ink flow and pump operation.
  17. Perform a nozzle check.
  18. Start printing if nozzles have recovered.

Damper Inspection and Ink Pull

  1. Pull approximately 5 ml of ink.
  2. Move the carriage to the center.
  3. Power off the printer.
  4. Open the printer carriage cover.
  5. Gently remove the damper.
  6. Align the syringe tip with the damper connector without inserting it.
  7. Pull approximately 5 ml of ink.
  8. For white head issues, repeat for all dampers.
  9. Inspect for ink dripping or resistance.
  10. Replace the damper if ink cannot be pulled properly.
  11. Reassemble the carriage cover.
  12. Perform the heavy unclogging procedure again.
  13. If issues persist, refer to additional troubleshooting videos or contact DTF Station technicians.

Daily End of Day Maintenance Tools

What you need

  • Polyester head cleaning swab
  • Lint-free cloth
  • Cleaning solution
  • Paper towels
  • Small cup
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Protective gloves

Daily End of Day Maintenance Procedure

  1. Open the printer cover.
  2. Press and hold the Up button to move the film off the printer bed.
  3. Press the Left Arrow once, then press and hold it to move the carriage to the left side.
  4. Open the left side panel to access the print head.
  5. Use the bottom metal surface as a mirror for visibility.
  6. Pour a small amount of cleaning solution into a small cup.
  7. Dip a cleaning swab into the solution and remove excess liquid.
  8. Gently clean around the print head without touching the print head face.
  9. Use a dry swab or lint-free cloth to remove excess cleaning solution.
  10. Clean the right side of the printer around the capping station and wiper blade using a swab dampened with cleaning solution.
  11. Soak heavy ink buildup with cleaning solution, then remove residue with a swab.
  12. Wear gloves and avoid using lint-free cloths directly on the wiper blade.
  13. Remove excess liquid from the top of the capping station.
  14. If excessive ink buildup is present inside the cap, remove the capping station cover and clean thoroughly.
  15. For CMYK caps, carefully fill with leftover cleaning solution without overfilling.
  16. For the white cap, press the wet cap button on the right side of the printer.
  17. Press the Home or Reset button to return the carriage to the capping station.
  18. Confirm the print head is properly capped.
  19. Close all covers.
  20. If printing daily, power off the printer.
  21. If printing weekly or every other day, leave the printer on but turn off heater, vacuum bed, ink alarm switch, and film takeup switches.
  22. Regularly check ink inventory and maintain adequate ink, media, white ink, and cleaning solution supplies.

Weekly End of Day Maintenance Tools

  • Isopropyl alcohol 90% or higher
  • Lint-free cloth
  • Paper towels
  • Gloves

Weekly End of Day Maintenance Procedure

  1. Open all top printer covers.
  2. Press the Up button to move the film away from the printer bed.
  3. Apply isopropyl alcohol to a lint-free cloth.
  4. Gently clean the encoder strip.
  5. Move the carriage to the left to clean the home position.
  6. Press Reset to return the carriage to the home position.
  7. Lift the pinch roller button.
  8. Clean pinch rollers using a dry cloth only.
  9. Clean the printer bed and media guides with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
  10. Avoid pouring alcohol directly onto the bed or vacuum holes.
  11. Clean the film takeup sensor face with a lint-free cloth.
  12. Clean the paper sensor below the rear platen with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
  13. Check the cleaning solution bottle and maintain at least a 50% fill level.
  14. Ensure the solution tube is inserted correctly and free of air bubbles.
  15. Remove and empty the waste ink container.
  16. Test the waste ink alarm function.

Waste Ink Disposal Guidelines

Overview and Purpose

Gaining Access to Ink Bay

  1. Locate the ink bay.
  2. Remove five screws total: three from the front and one from each side.
  3. Remove the ink bay cover.

Disconnecting the White Ink Container

  2. Tighten the cap on the white ink container.
  3. Close the valve on the container.
  4. Use scissors to cut the zip tie securing the cables.
  5. Follow the cable to the connector and unplug it to disconnect the white ink stirrer.
  6. Follow the cables down through the side hole to the outside of the ink bay.
  7. Disconnect the two cables outside the ink bay.
  8. Pull the cable out from the top.
  9. Disconnect the split cable connection.
  10. Use scissors to remove the first ink tube by prying it open.
  11. Remove the tube by hand.
  12. Wrap the tube end with a paper towel and secure it with tape to prevent ink spillage.
  13. Repeat this process for the second tube.
  14. Remove the entire white ink container from the ink bay.
  15. Open the cap and dispose of the remaining ink according to local regulations.

Cleaning the Ink Container

  1. Move to a sink and ensure electrical cables do not get wet.
  2. Rinse the ink container with water and dispose of the liquid properly.
  3. Repeat the rinse several times.
  4. Remove the white ink stirrer by removing two screws.
  5. Rotate the stirrer as needed while pulling it out.
  6. Rinse and clean the white ink stirrer.
  7. Fill the container with a small amount of water.
  8. Use a cleaning swab to scrape solidified ink from the bottom of the container.
  9. Dispose of the contaminated water.
  10. Repeat scraping and rinsing until no solidified ink remains.
  11. Rinse the container one final time.
  12. Allow the container and all connectors to fully dry before reinstallation.

Draining the Ink Lines

  2. Locate the top ink tube.
  3. Remove the tape and paper towel from the tube.
  4. Place the tube into the waste ink container.
  5. Set white ink circulation to maximum power.
  6. Turn on the white ink circulation.
  7. Monitor ink flow and wait until only air flows from the tube.
  8. Turn off white ink circulation.
  9. Lower the circulation power.
  10. Turn the printer off.
  11. Shake a new white ink bottle for 30 seconds.
  12. Let the bottle sit for at least 5 minutes to allow bubbles to settle.

Reassembly of White Ink Container

  1. Insert the white ink stirrer back into the container while rotating it.
  2. Secure the stirrer with two screws.
  3. Place the ink container back into the ink bay.
  4. Reconnect the top tube fully.
  5. Reconnect the second tube fully.
  6. Route the cable through the inside hole of the ink bay to exit on the side.
  7. If any connectors were exposed to water, allow them to dry for at least 24 hours.
  8. Optionally wipe connectors with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
  9. Connect the split cable connector.
  10. Connect the routed side cable.
  11. Match cable colors correctly: black to black, white to white.
  12. Plug the remaining cable into its port.
  13. Place the ink bay cover back on without securing screws yet.

Ink Charge and White Ink Recovery

  1. Fill the ink container with new white ink.
  2. Puncture two holes in the ink bottle for smooth pouring.
  3. Close the container cap loosely to allow airflow.
  4. Open the container valve.
  5. Set white ink circulation intensity to 100%.
  6. Run circulation for one full cycle.
  7. Turn off circulation.
  8. Lower circulation power.
  9. Perform a fill ink on H2 for one minute.
  10. Open the right side cover and confirm the H2 pump is running.
  11. Verify white ink is draining correctly into the waste ink line.
  12. Perform two head cleanings back to back.
  13. Run a nozzle check.
  14. If white ink is missing, rotate the H2 pump counterclockwise to unlock.
  15. Disconnect the tube leading to the capping station.
  16. Attach a syringe to the tube.
  17. Pull the syringe fully and hold to create strong negative pressure.
  18. Pull ink two to three times, at least 20 ml each pull.
  19. Hold the syringe plunger when removing to prevent ink spillage.
  20. Reconnect the tube, ensuring it is straight with no twists.
  21. Lock the pump by rotating it clockwise.

Final Steps and Verification

  3. Run a final nozzle check.
  4. Secure the ink bay cover using five screws.
  5. Close the right side panel.
