What you need
- Gloves
- Lint-free cloth
- Phillips screwdriver
- Replacement encoder strip
- Isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher)
- Do not use power drills
Prepare the Printer
- Press and hold the Up Arrow key to remove any film from the printer bed.
- Press the Left Arrow key once and then press and hold it.
- Release the Left Arrow key when the carriage moves to the center of the printer bed.
- Turn the printer off.
- Open the left side printer cover.
- Locate the screws securing the encoder strip metal plate.
- Remove the screws and hold onto the metal plate.
- Open the right side printer cover.
- Locate the screws securing the encoder strip metal plate.
- Remove the screws and hold onto the metal plate.
- With all four screws removed, slide the encoder strip out slowly.
- Do not remove the encoder strip too quickly.
- Avoid damaging the encoder strip sensor on the print head carriage.
Install the New Encoder Strip
- Slide the print head carriage closer to the left side.
- Begin inserting the new encoder strip.
- Locate the encoder strip sensor on the print head carriage.
- Thread the encoder strip through the encoder strip sensor groove.
- Continue threading the strip into the groove across the printer.
- Once the strip reaches the left side, stop insertion.
- Reinstall the metal plate on the left side.
- Secure it with screws.
- Reinstall the metal plate on the right side.
- Secure it with screws.
Clean and Inspect the Encoder Strip
- Use a lint-free cloth to clean the encoder strip.
- Inspect the strip for scratches or damage.
- Use isopropyl alcohol as needed for cleaning.
What you need
- If errors occur, inspect encoder strip alignment in the sensor
- Ensure encoder strip is properly seated
- Close all printer covers.
- Turn the printer power on.
- Monitor printer movement during startup.
- Connect the printer software.
- Watch for any error messages.
Technician Escalation
What you need
- If further assistance is required, contact a DTF Station technician
- Keep the print head capped on the capping station while waiting for support
Movement Verification
- Press the Left Arrow key once and hold it to move the carriage left.
- Press and hold both Left and Right Arrow keys to move the carriage back and forth.
- Confirm smooth and normal movement.
- Press Enter.
- Perform the X motor gear ratio procedure.
