- Start with the printer powered on.
- Remove the two screws on the top of the printer.
- Open the printer lid fully.
Move Carriage to Service Position
- Press the Left Arrow key once to release the carriage from the capping station.
- Press and hold the Left Arrow key to move the carriage to the center of the printer bed.
- Press the Emergency Stop button to turn the printer off.
- Using a screwdriver, loosen the two screws on the left side of the daughterboard cover.
- Loosen the two screws on the right side of the daughterboard cover.
- Remove the daughterboard cover.
Remove the Adapter and Document Connections
- Locate the adapter on the daughter board.
- Carefully pull the adapter straight upward to remove it.
- Do not wiggle the adapter to avoid damaging the pins.
- Take a clear picture of all cable connections for reference.
- Remove the first cable by pulling straight upward from the plastic connector.
- Remove the second cable by pulling from the plastic connector.
- Remove the third cable by pulling from the plastic connector.
- Remove the socket cable by pushing the release lever and pulling the connector out.
- Never pull cables by the wires.
Remove the Daughter Board
- Remove the four screws securing the daughter board.
- Remove the daughter board from the printer.
- Position the new daughter board into place.
- Align the mounting holes.
- Install the four screws loosely.
- Do not fully tighten the screws until all four are seated.
Transfer Ribbon Cables
What you need
- Contact points should be evenly seated
- Contact points should be barely visible
- Uneven or partially seated cables are incorrect
- Transfer ribbon cables one at a time from the old board to the new board.
- Match each cable to the correct port using the reference photo.
- Ensure the blue tape side of the ribbon cables face each other.
- Align the ribbon cable teeth with the port.
- Press straight down with firm pressure to seat the cable fully.
- Inspect ribbon cable contact points.
- Look for bent or lifted contacts.
- Do not reuse damaged ribbon cables.
- Plug the adapter back into the old daughter board for return to DTF Station.
- Using the reference photo, reconnect all cables to the new daughter board.
Initial Power-On Safety Check
What you need
- If a red light is present, cables are not connected correctly
- Release the Emergency Stop button to power the printer on.
- Immediately watch the daughter board area.
- Quickly look for a red indicator light.
- Press the Emergency Stop button again to turn the printer off before the carriage docks.
- Do not allow the carriage to dock with the daughterboard cover removed.
Reinstall Daughter Board Cover
- Place the daughterboard cover back onto the printer.
- Tighten two screws on the left side.
- Tighten two screws on the right side.
What you need
- No red light present
- Daughter board replacement successful
- Turn the printer back on.
- Allow the carriage to dock onto the capping station.
- Look through the cover slits to verify no red light is visible.
