What you need

  • Small flathead screwdriver or tweezers
  • Hex key set (if back cover removal is required)

Error Description and Cause

What you need

  • Error code 01604 indicates an X motor position error
  • Daughterboard cannot determine carriage position
  • Carriage position is normally measured by:
  • Encoder strip
  • Encoder strip sensor on the carriage
  • Common causes include:
  • Carriage belt moving too quickly or unevenly
  • Damaged encoder strip
  • Damaged encoder strip sensor

Verify Error Code in Control Software

What you need

  • If error code 01604 is not listed, refer to a different troubleshooting guide or contact DTF Station support
  1. Perform a nozzle check and observe the carriage stopping.
  2. Open the Hosonsoft dashboard.
  3. Click the flashing red light bulb icon in the bottom-right corner.
  4. Navigate to the Log page.
  5. Review the error codes listed in red.
  6. Confirm error code 01604 is present.

Power Down and Access Back Controller

  1. Open the printer cover.
  2. Go to the back of the printer.
  3. Turn the printer off.
  4. Unplug the power cord from the printer.
  5. Open the back powerboard cover.

Adjust Carriage Servo Motor Switches

  1. Locate the carriage servo motor inside the back of the printer.
  2. Identify the numbered switches on the motor.
  3. Confirm switches 2 and 3 are in the ON position.
  4. Using tweezers, flip switch 3 to the OFF position.
  5. Leave switch 2 in the ON position.
  6. Avoid touching or damaging nearby components.

Restore Power

  1. Close the back cover.
  2. Plug the power cord back in.
  3. Turn the printer on.
  4. Wait for the printer to reach Idle status.

Perform X Motor Gear Ratio Calibration

What you need

  • Do not enter a value higher than 300
  • Entering a higher value will cause an error
  • If an error occurs, restart the printer and repeat the calibration process
  1. Open the Hosonsoft dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Advanced tab.
  3. Enter the factory password: 111111.
  4. Go to the X Motor subtab.
  5. Locate the Gear Ratio setting.
  6. Change the value from 1000 to a value below 300.
  7. Click Check to begin calibration.

Save and Initialize

  1. Wait for the carriage to move left and complete measurement.
  2. Confirm the carriage returns to the capping station home position.
  3. Go to File.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Navigate to Operation.
  6. Click Initialize to exit Advanced mode.

Verification

  1. Send test prints.
  2. Confirm the printer no longer stops unexpectedly.
  3. Monitor for any recurring X motor position errors.
