Overview and Required Supplies

What you need

  • Screwdriver
  • Lint-free cloth
  • Masking tape
  • Gloves (recommended)

Step 1 – Prepare the Printer

  1. Remove the two screws on the top of the printer.
  2. Open the printer lid fully.
  3. Press the Up Arrow key to remove any media from the printer bed.
  4. Press the Left Arrow key to move the carriage to the center of the printer.
  5. Turn the printer off.

Step 2 – Access the Carriage Assembly

  1. Loosen the indicated screws on the top lid.
  2. Lift the lid upward to open it.
  3. Go to the printer carriage.
  4. Remove the indicated screws.
  5. Remove the outer carriage shell.
  6. Lock the two tube clips to prevent ink spillage.

Step 3 – Document and Release Ribbon Cables

  1. Take a picture of the ribbon cable routing and folding.
  2. Carefully remove the tape securing the ribbon cables.
  3. Identify H1 cables for CMYK and H2 cables for White.
  4. Remove the two H2 ribbon cables.

Step 4 – Remove White Print Head

  1. Remove the far-right damper to expose two screws.
  2. Remove the two screws.
  3. Reinstall the damper temporarily.
  4. Repeat the process on the far-left damper.
  5. Locate and remove the upper bracket by removing two screws.
  6. Place a lint-free cloth nearby.
  7. Remove all white ink dampers carefully.
  8. Remove the H2 ribbon cables completely.
  9. Place the white dampers on the lint-free cloth.
  10. Remove the white print head and set it aside.

Step 5 – Remove CMYK Print Head

  1. Confirm all CMYK tube clips are locked.
  2. Remove the right-side CMYK damper.
  3. Remove the two screws and reinstall the damper temporarily.
  4. Remove the left-side CMYK damper.
  5. Remove the two screws and reinstall the damper.
  6. Bring over the white print head.
  7. Confirm the raised wall orientation faces the back.
  8. Transfer CMYK dampers from the CMYK head to the white head.
  9. Apply firm downward pressure to seat each damper.
  10. Set the CMYK print head aside.

Step 6 – Install White Print Head

  1. Install the white print head into the CMYK position.
  2. Insert the right-side screws carefully.
  3. Seat screws by turning counterclockwise until threads align.
  4. Tighten clockwise by hand only.
  5. Do not overtighten.
  6. Reinstall the right damper.
  7. Repeat the process for the left side.
  8. Unlock all tube clips.

Step 7 – Install CMYK Print Head

  1. Install the CMYK print head into the white position.
  2. Secure it with four screws.
  3. Transfer white dampers onto the CMYK head.
  4. Press firmly to ensure proper seating.

Step 8 – Reconnect Ribbon Cables

  1. Connect the right white ribbon cable to the first H2 slot with teeth facing you and blue tape facing away.
  2. Connect the left white ribbon cable to the second H2 slot with blue tape facing you.
  3. Connect the CMYK ribbon cable to the H1 slot with teeth facing you.
  4. Connect the remaining ribbon cable to the upper port with teeth facing away and blue tape facing you.
  5. Do not touch ribbon cable contact teeth.

Step 9 – Reassemble Cable Bracket

  1. Reinstall the cable bracket.
  2. Secure it with two screws.
  3. Reorganize ribbon cables using the reference photo.
  4. Secure cables together with masking tape.
  5. Unlock the remaining tube clips.

Step 10 – Power On and Initial Check

What you need

  • If a red light appears, contact DTF Station immediately
  1. Turn the printer on from the rear switch.
  2. Monitor ribbon cables closely during startup.
  3. Wait for the printer to reach Idle status.
  4. Check for three green indicator lights on top of the carriage.

Step 11 – Prime Ink System

  1. Press and hold the Down Arrow key to advance media.
  2. Position side media guides.
  3. Press Menu.
  4. Navigate to Head Maintenance.
  5. Select Fill Ink.
  6. Choose Two Head.
  7. Run Fill Ink for 10 seconds.
  8. Press Cancel.

Step 12 – Cleaning and Nozzle Check

What you need

  • Hosonsoft must be running to perform nozzle check
  1. Press the Cleaning button to perform a head cleaning.
  2. Verify capping station and wiper blade contact.
  3. Press Menu.
  4. Navigate to Head Maintenance.
  5. Select Head Status.
  6. Perform a nozzle check.

Step 13 – Final Reassembly

  1. Press and hold the Up Arrow key to remove media.
  2. Move the carriage to the center.
  3. Reinstall the carriage cover and secure with screws.
  4. Reinstall the top cover and secure with screws.
  5. Power the printer on.
  6. Allow the carriage to dock automatically.
  7. Close the lid and secure with two screws.

  • Nozzle check acceptable
