Important Notes Before Replacement

  • Confirm the damper is faulty with a DTF Station technician before replacement
  • Refer to the damper test instructional video before proceeding
  • Avoid frequent damper removal to prevent wear on the rubber gasket
  • Exercise extra caution when replacing color dampers
  • Consult technicians before removing white dampers, white ink reservoir, or print head cable tapes

Required Tools and Supplies

What you need

  • Snap blade
  • Scissors
  • Screwdriver
  • Syringe
  • Gloves
  • Paper towels
  • Replacement white damper

Prepare the Printer

  1. Remove the two screws securing the printer main cover.
  2. Open the main cover carefully.
  3. Press the Up Arrow button to retract the film from the printer bed.
  4. Press the Left Arrow key once to release the carriage from the capping station.
  5. Press and hold the Left Arrow key to move the carriage to the center of the bed.
  6. Keep film and powder residue away from the print head area.
  7. Turn the printer off.
  8. Wait 5 seconds to ensure the printer is fully powered down.

Access the Print Head Area

  1. Loosen the screws securing the daughterboard cover.
  2. Remove the daughterboard cover.
  3. Loosen the four screws on the print head cover.
  4. Identify the far-right white damper to be replaced.

Remove the Old White Damper

  1. Clamp the ink tube to prevent ink flow.
  2. Gently wiggle the damper out of the print head slot.
  3. Place paper towels around the area to catch ink drips.
  4. Hold the damper only by the outer plastic housing.
  5. Avoid touching the transparent portion of the damper.

Disconnect the Damper Tubing

What you need

  • If the tube becomes too short or cannot reach the print head slot, contact a DTF Station technician
  • Tube extenders or extra tubing may be required
  1. Use scissors to cut the tube straight and as close to the damper as possible.
  2. Minimize tube length loss during cutting.

Install the New White Damper

  1. Push the ink tube fully onto the new damper until snug.
  2. Ensure an airtight connection.
  3. Do not touch the transparent portion of the damper.
  4. Unclamp the ink tube.
  5. Attach the syringe to the damper carefully without pushing into the rubber gasket.
  6. Pull ink through the damper to prime it.

Damper Function Test

What you need

  • Ink leaks from the bottom within 5 seconds indicate a bad damper
  • Ink pulls back into the damper when syringe pressure is released
  • Air bubbles form and no solid ink reaches the syringe
  • Damper bubbles or loses pressure during syringe pull

Seat the Damper into the Print Head

  1. Insert the damper into the print head slot carefully.
  2. Do not force the damper in prematurely.
  3. Align the damper evenly with adjacent dampers.
  4. Reinstall the daughterboard cover to protect print head cables.

Restore Power and Prime Ink

  1. Turn the main power on.
  2. Wait for the printer to reach Status Idle.
  3. Press Menu.
  4. Press Down three times to navigate to Head Maintain.
  5. Press Enter.
  6. Press Down twice to select Fill Ink.
  7. Press Enter.
  8. Press Down twice to select Right Head.
  9. Press Enter.
  10. Run Fill Ink for at least 30 seconds.
  11. Press Cancel to stop Fill Ink.

Perform Cleaning Cycles

  1. Press the Cleaning buttons.
  2. Perform at least two cleanings.
  3. Allow the wiper blade to clean the print head surface.

Perform Nozzle Check

What you need

  • Achieve at least a 90% or higher nozzle check
  • Perform Fill Ink or weak cleanings as needed
  1. Press Menu.
  2. Press Down three times to reach Head Maintain.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Navigate to Head Status.
  5. Press Enter to perform a nozzle check.

Final Reassembly

  1. Remove printed film.
  2. Move the carriage to the center.
  3. Reinstall all covers.
  4. Secure all screws.

Completion

What you need

  • White damper replacement completed
  • Ink flow verified
  • Nozzle check acceptable
  • Printer ready for normal operation
