Overview and Required Items

What you need

  • Gloves
  • Lint-free cloth
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Replacement encoder strip
  • Isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher)
  • Do not use power drills

Prepare the Printer

  1. Press and hold the Up Arrow key to remove any film from the printer bed.
  2. Press the Left Arrow key once and then press and hold it.
  3. Release the Left Arrow key when the carriage moves to the center of the printer bed.
  4. Turn the printer off.

Access the Encoder Strip

  1. Open the left side printer cover.
  2. Locate the screws securing the encoder strip metal plate.
  3. Remove the screws and hold onto the metal plate.
  4. Open the right side printer cover.
  5. Locate the screws securing the encoder strip metal plate.
  6. Remove the screws and hold onto the metal plate.

Remove the Old Encoder Strip

  1. With all four screws removed, slide the encoder strip out slowly.
  2. Do not remove the encoder strip too quickly.
  3. Avoid damaging the encoder strip sensor on the print head carriage.

Install the New Encoder Strip

  1. Slide the print head carriage closer to the left side.
  2. Begin inserting the new encoder strip.
  3. Locate the encoder strip sensor on the print head carriage.
  4. Thread the encoder strip through the encoder strip sensor groove.
  5. Continue threading the strip into the groove across the printer.
  6. Once the strip reaches the left side, stop insertion.

Secure the Encoder Strip

  1. Reinstall the metal plate on the left side.
  2. Secure it with screws.
  3. Reinstall the metal plate on the right side.
  4. Secure it with screws.

Clean and Inspect the Encoder Strip

  1. Use a lint-free cloth to clean the encoder strip.
  2. Inspect the strip for scratches or damage.
  3. Use isopropyl alcohol as needed for cleaning.

Power On and Initial Check

What you need

  • If errors occur, inspect encoder strip alignment in the sensor
  • Ensure encoder strip is properly seated
  1. Close all printer covers.
  2. Turn the printer power on.
  3. Monitor printer movement during startup.
  4. Connect the printer software.
  5. Watch for any error messages.

  • If further assistance is required, contact a DTF Station technician
  • Keep the print head capped on the capping station while waiting for support

Movement Verification

  1. Press the Left Arrow key once and hold it to move the carriage left.
  2. Press and hold both Left and Right Arrow keys to move the carriage back and forth.
  3. Confirm smooth and normal movement.

Final Calibration
