Overview and Applicability

  1. Use this procedure to flush ink from Prestige R2 Pro and L2 printers.
  2. Apply the same process to all Prestige printers and similar DTF printers.
  3. Follow this method to properly remove old ink before adding new ink.

Step 1 – Lower Ink Levels

  1. Run the printer until ink levels are as low as possible.
  2. Reduce leftover ink to make flushing easier and minimize waste.

Step 2 – Remove Ink from Bottles Using a Syringe

What you need

  • Ink is water-based and water soluble
  • Wear gloves as needed
  • Dispose of ink according to local regulations
  1. Get a syringe and the tube attachment from the printer supply box.
  2. Attach extra tubing to extend the syringe if needed.
  3. Insert the tubing to the bottom of the ink bottle.
  4. Slowly pull ink into the syringe.
  5. Empty the syringe into a waste bottle.
  6. Rinse the syringe.
  7. Repeat the process for all CMYK colors.

What you need

  • Do not pull the syringe too hard
  • Excessive force can cause the syringe to pop out and spill ink

Step 3 – Prepare for Suction

  1. Confirm CMYK bottles are nearly empty.
  2. Clean around the print head.
  3. Clean the capping station.
  4. Clean the wiper blade.
  5. Ensure all components are free of excess ink.

Step 4 – Run Fill Ink to Clear Ink Lines

What you need

  • Fill Ink may take several minutes
  • Ink flow should be visible from lines to waste bottle
  1. Open the printer lid.
  2. Select Fill Ink on the control panel.
  3. Select Left Head.
  4. Press Enter to begin Fill Ink.
  5. Observe ink moving through the lines to the waste bottle.
  6. Continue running Fill Ink until ink lines are empty.

Step 5 – Clear Stubborn Ink Lines

What you need

  • On Prestige R2 Pro, remove the back panel to access and clamp ink tubes
  1. Identify any ink color that is not draining.
  2. Close the valves on all other colors.
  3. Force the pump to pull ink from the blocked color line.

What you need

  • If the printer does not have a Fill Ink option, pull ink from dampers or waste line
  • Some printers require clamping ink lines at the bottles to assist ink flow

Step 6 – Add Color Prime Chroma Ink

  1. Shake the Color Prime Chroma ink bottles.
  2. Remove the cap tamper ring.
  3. Pour ink into each bottle.
  4. Fill each bottle as much as possible.

Step 7 – Prime Ink System with New Ink

  1. Run Fill Ink again.
  2. Select Left Head.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Wait until ink flows from the lines to the print head.

Step 8 – Perform Head Cleanings

  1. Perform three head cleanings back to back.

Step 9 – Final Maintenance
