Overview and When to Replace

Required Tools and Supplies

What you need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Allen wrench
  • Scissors
  • Gloves
  • Small zip ties
  • Replacement cable
  • New capping station

Step 1 – Power Down and Initial Positioning

  1. Turn the printer completely off using the rear power switch.
  2. Ensure no media is loaded in the printer.
  3. Rotate the capping station knob counterclockwise to lower the capping station fully.
  4. Slide the printer carriage to the left.

Step 2 – Remove Front and Side Panels

  1. Remove the five screws securing the front panel.
  2. Open the side door.
  3. Remove the two screws on the side panel.
  4. Remove the panel.
  5. Carefully remove the capping station cover.

Step 3 – Disconnect Tubes and Top Assembly

  1. Remove the four screws securing the top capping station panel.
  2. Lift the panel slightly without pulling it fully out.
  3. Take note of the four ink tubes connected to the assembly.
  4. Label the tubes if needed.
  5. Remove all four tubes.

Step 4 – Document and Remove L-Bracket and Cables

  1. Take a picture of the L-bracket orientation and screw height.
  2. Note the position of the two screws on the L-bracket.
  3. Locate the connected cable.
  4. Remove the cable by pulling on the white plastic connector only.

Step 5 – Remove Wiper Blade and Lower Assembly

  1. Use an Allen wrench to remove the two bolts securing the assembly.
  2. Locate the wiper blade assembly.
  3. Remove the wiper blade carefully.
  4. Detach the drain tube connected to the wiper blade.
  5. Remove the additional two bolts securing the capping station base.

Step 6 – Access Rear Cable Routing

  1. Open the two rear panels.
  2. Take pictures of cable routing and zip tie locations.
  3. Cut the four zip ties securing the capping station cables.
  4. Locate the two bottom-left cables and unplug both.
  5. Cut the two side zip ties to free the cables.

Step 7 – Remove Rear Panel and Release Cables

  1. Move the waste tank to the side.
  2. Remove the eight screws securing the rear panel.
  3. Remove the panel.
  4. Locate and cut the two additional zip ties.
  5. Pull both cables completely out toward the capping station side.

Step 8 – Remove Old Capping Station

  1. Remove the entire capping station assembly from the printer.

Step 9 – Install New Capping Station

  1. Position the new capping station in the same orientation as the old unit.
  2. Reorganize tubes to their original positions.
  3. Route the replacement cable toward the back of the printer.
  4. Connect the cable to the side of the capping station.

Step 10 – Secure and Align New Assembly

  1. Install the two Allen bolts loosely to allow adjustment.
  2. Secure the two bolts on the opposite side.
  3. Attach the top bracket assembly.
  4. Tighten the bracket with a screwdriver.
  5. Reinstall all tubes exactly as originally routed.

Step 11 – Mount and Route Cables

  1. Place the capping station assembly into position.
  2. Secure it with the mounting screws.
  3. Route the first cable through the rear opening.
  4. Pull it through from the back and plug it into the correct port.
  5. Route and connect the second cable.
  6. Adjust the L-bracket and screws to match the reference photo.

Step 12 – Initial Mechanical Alignment

  1. Turn the printer on.
  2. Allow the carriage to sit on the capping station.
  3. Turn the printer off from the rear switch.
  4. Rotate the knob clockwise to raise the capping station.
  5. Align the capping station to the print head.
  6. Rotate the knob counterclockwise to lower it.
  7. Move the carriage left.
  8. Tighten the two right-side bolts.
  9. Remove the four access screws to reach hidden bolts.
  10. Tighten the remaining bolts.
  11. Reinstall the panel loosely.

Step 13 – Adjust Capping Station Tilt

  1. Move the carriage back to the capping station.
  2. Adjust the four tilt screws until alignment is correct.
  3. Tighten all four tilt screws once alignment is confirmed.

Step 14 – Adjust Capping Station Height (Software)

  1. Turn the printer on.
  2. Open Hosonsoft.
  3. Click Advance.
  4. Enter password 111111.
  5. Go to the Ink Stack tab.
  6. Increase Ink Stack Height from 6000 to 18000.
  7. Click Confirm.
  8. Observe capping station movement.
  9. Reduce value to 15500.
  10. Click Confirm.
  11. Set Pump Ink Stack Height to the same value.
  12. Click Confirm.

Step 15 – Adjust Wiper Blade Height

  1. Press Left Arrow once to detach the capping station.
  2. Press and hold Left Arrow to move carriage near the wiper blade.
  3. In Hosonsoft, locate Scraper Ink Stack Height.
  4. Increase value from 3700 to 10700.
  5. Click Confirm.
  6. Observe blade height.
  7. Reduce value to 8700.
  8. Click Confirm.
  9. Verify blade is not bending and blocks view into printer bed.

Step 16 – Save and Initialize

  1. Go to File.
  2. Click Save.
  3. Go to Operation.
  4. Click Initialize.
  5. Perform a head cleaning.

Step 17 – Final Contact Verification

  1. Observe capping station contact from front and side.
  2. Confirm even contact on both sides.
  3. Adjust tilt again if needed.

Step 18 – Final Reassembly

  1. Secure cables with zip ties as originally routed.
  2. Reinstall rear panels.
  3. Secure rear panel with eight screws.
  4. Reinstall waste tank.
  5. Reinstall top cover and secure with screws.
  6. Reinstall side panel and secure with screws.
  7. Close the side door.
