What you need
- Use this procedure if your Prestige R1 is not printing properly
- Power off the printer
- Power off the computer
- Wait a few minutes
- Power both devices back on
- Attempt a nozzle check SECTION (00:01:35) Step 2 — Firmware Reset Before resetting firmware: Open DTF Station Pilot Incorrect firmware-to-motherboard pairing can cause printing issues Firmware export:
- Go to Advanced
- Enter password: 11111
- Click Confirm
- Go to Firmware
- Select Export Firmware
- Save the file with the current date
- Click Save, then OK Firmware import:
- Download the default firmware from the Quick Start Guide or technician
- Go to Firmware
- Select Import Firmware
- Locate the default firmware file
- Check all boxes
- Click OK, then OK again
- Go to File → Save → OK
- Go to Operation → Initialize SECTION (00:02:53) Step 3 — Testing the Carriage Board (Only perform if instructed by a DTF Station technician) Required tools: Gloves Procedure:
- Power off the printer
- Open the front lid
- Rotate the knob counterclockwise
- Move the carriage to the center of the bed
- Remove the carriage cover screws
- Remove the carriage cover Ribbon cable inspection: Wear gloves Testing:
- Leave ribbon cables unplugged
- Reinstall carriage cover loosely
- Power the printer on
- When status is Idle, check the back of the printer Results: If error light turns off → issue may be carriage board, print head, or cables SECTION (00:04:47) Reconnect Carriage Cables
- Move carriage back to center using the left arrow key
- Power off the printer
- Remove carriage cover
- Reconnect ribbon cables: Align teeth perfectly
- Repeat for both cables SECTION (00:05:17) Step 4 — Reseating Daughterboard Cables (Only perform if instructed by a technician)
- Ensure printer is powered off
- Locate the four ribbon cables on the daughterboard
- Remove the cable bracket (loosen top screw, remove bottom screw) Cable removal technique: Grip the center of the cable near the contact points Cable reinstallation:
- Hold cable at the center
- Align contact points with port
- Let cable lightly seat into port
- Move fingers closer to contact points
- Push straight in firmly
- Ensure visible contacts are straight and evenly aligned SECTION (00:08:29) Step 5 — Replacing the Daughterboard Required tools: Gloves Procedure:
- Power off printer
- Back panel should already be removed
- Take a reference photo of all connections
- Remove daughterboard adapter (gently wiggle if needed)
- Remove connected cable
- Remove bracket if still installed
- Unplug all four ribbon cables
- Remove the four daughterboard mounting screws
- Remove the old daughterboard Install new daughterboard:
- Connect the daughterboard adapter (align pins carefully)
- Reconnect the cable (observe orientation)
- Secure board with four screws
- Reconnect ribbon cables using proper alignment technique
- Verify visible contacts are straight and evenly seated SECTION (00:11:00) Post-Replacement Verification
- Power on printer
- Confirm error light is gone Ink system check:
- Menu → Head Maintenance → Fill Ink
- Select One Head
- Run for 30 seconds
- Press Cancel
- Menu → Cleaning
- Run two head cleanings Nozzle check:
- Menu → Head Maintenance → Head Status
- Print nozzle check SECTION (00:12:44) Final Assembly and Completion – Reinstall the cable bracket – Close both back panels – Printer is ready for production – Take a photo of the nozzle check – Send it to your technician for next steps END OF GUIDE
- Specific error codes during a nozzle check may indicate a daughterboard issue
- If you see any additional error codes not shown in this video, stop immediately, take photos, and contact DTF Station Tech Support
- Before replacing the daughterboard, perform a fill ink or head cleaning
- Check whether ink is flowing from the print head through the capping station tubes into the waste tank
- A clogged print head
- A misaligned capping station
- A faulty capping station pump
- Open the two back panels of the printer
- If the daughterboard indicator light is off while the error light is on, this supports a daughterboard-related issue
- If the issue persists, proceed to Step 2
- Go to Advanced
- Select Firmware Version Model
- Take a photo and send it to your technician
- Perform a nozzle check
- If the issue remains, proceed to Step 3
- Screwdriver
- Hold ribbon cables on both sides
- Pull straight out with even pressure
- Do not wiggle
- Inspect teeth and cable length for damage
- If error light stays red → suspect daughterboard
- Push straight in
- Do not wiggle
- Minimal contact points should remain visible
- Power on and check error light
- If still present, proceed to Step 4
- Pull straight out
- Do not wiggle
- Inspect for bends, residue, or damage
- Power on printer
- If error light is gone, issue is resolved
- If error remains, proceed to Step 5
- Screwdriver
- Replacement daughterboard
- If error light is gone and nozzle check is good:
- If a channel is missing:
