Before you start
SECTION (00:00:33) Tools and Prep SECTION (00:01:18) Swap the Black and Yellow Dampers
What you need
- This is a troubleshooting test for poor nozzle checks or ink contamination
- Use a clip to clamp the Yellow and Black ink tubes
- Carefully wiggle the Yellow and Black dampers out of the print head
- Hold dampers by the plastic outer frame only
- Do not press the clear damper belly
- Swap the damper positions (Black goes where Yellow was, Yellow goes where Black was)
- Reinsert both dampers securely into the print head
- Do not push too hard to avoid affecting print head height SECTION (00:01:52) Restart, Prime, and Clean
- Open the clip to unclamp the Yellow and Black ink tubes
- Fold the print head cables back inside the carriage
- Remove the paper towels
- Turn the printer back on
- Confirm cables are tucked in so they will not snag on the outer cover
- Wait for the printer to reach Idle
- Run Fill Ink for at least 20 seconds
- Press Cancel to stop Fill Ink
- Run two Head Cleanings back to back SECTION (00:02:45) Nozzle Check After the Swap
- Open DTF Station Pilot
- Double check Print Start Position in the Settings tab
- If cables are not fully tucked in and could snag, reinstall the cover before continuing
- Perform a nozzle check
- If patterns match the video example, you can start printing and monitor results
- If Yellow shows Black in the nozzle check, run additional head cleanings until the pattern clears SECTION (00:03:25) Return Printer to Normal Configuration
- Move the carriage to the center
- Turn off the printer power
- Reinstall the print head cover
- Turn the power back on SECTION (00:03:25) Change Ink Spray Order in Pilot (Black and Yellow)
- Open DTF Station Pilot
- Go to the Advanced tab
- Enter password 61es
- Go to Base Color
- Change Channel 1 from Black to Yellow
- Change Channel 4 from Yellow to Black
- Go to File and click Save SECTION (00:04:19) Print a Test Page in DigiRip for Verification
- Open DigiRip
- Go to Devices
- Select Quick Test Print or Print Test Page
- Scroll and select the Cadlink test page
- Click OK
- Resize or rotate the image as needed
- Click Print
- After printing, remove the film and review the test page
- Confirm the correct colors printed in the correct locations
- Cure the print as needed
- Take a photo and share it with the DTF Station technician team SECTION (00:04:19) Finish
- This helps determine if the issue is the print head or another component
- This is useful if one channel suddenly drops even after replacing the damper
- This example swaps the Black and Yellow dampers
- Prepare the required tools shown in the video
- Open the front cover
- Remove the film from the printer bed
- Move the print head carriage to the center of the bed
- Turn off the printer power
- Remove the print head cover
- Do not press down on the carriage to avoid altering carriage height
- Place paper towels around the work area to prevent ink spillage
- Gently unfold the carriage cables to access the dampers
- Do not pinch or pull cables hard
- Use the nozzle check and test print results to confirm whether the issue follows the damper/channel or stays with the print head
- Share your photos with your technician for next-step guidance
