Prestige R1 – Troubleshoot Capping Station Sensor Error

  1. Identify the symptom: after powering on, the capping station rises and falls repeatedly for about 1 minute
  2. Open DTF Station Pilot and confirm you have the specific combination of error codes shown in the video
  3. If the error codes match, proceed with the steps below

Step 1 – Firmware Reset

  1. With the printer ON, open DTF Station Pilot and click Advanced
  2. Click Firmware Version Model
  3. Take a screenshot and send it to your technician to confirm your firmware matches your printer hardware
  4. If your technician confirms the firmware is correct, continue
  5. Return to Advanced and enter the password provided in the video
  6. Click Confirm, then go to Firmware
  7. If you have a saved firmware file, click Import Firmware
  8. Select your saved firmware file
  9. Check the required boxes shown in the video
  10. Click OK, then click OK again
  11. Power the printer OFF, then ON
  12. If the cycling stops, the issue is resolved
  13. If the cycling continues and the same error codes remain, proceed to Step 2

Important Note – If You Do Not Have a Saved Firmware File

  1. Download the default firmware using the Quick Start Guide link or from your technician
  2. Understand that importing the default firmware resets settings
  3. Before importing default firmware, go to Calibration and take photos of all relevant settings shown in the video
  4. Go to Inkstack and take photos of all settings shown in the video
  5. Use these photos later to restore your settings after the reset

Step 2 – Sensor Isolation Test

  1. Turn the printer OFF
  2. Go to the back of the printer and open the rear panel shown in the video
  3. Locate the capping station sensor cable shown in the video
  4. Unplug the cable
  5. Turn the printer ON
  6. If the capping station lowers once and rises once, the sensor is confirmed bad — proceed to Step 3
  7. If it still rises and falls repeatedly, stop and contact DTF Station Tech Support (possible motherboard or full capping station issue)

Step 3 – Replace the Capping Station Sensor

  1. Start with the printer ON
  2. Use the left arrow key to move the carriage to the center of the printer bed
  3. Turn the printer OFF
  4. If you cannot move the carriage due to the cycling behavior, manually rotate the knob shown in the video and move the carriage by hand to the center

Remove the Capping Station Cover

  1. Remove the two top screws and two bottom screws on the capping station cover
  2. Remove the capping station cover
  3. Open the side panel for better access

Replace the Sensor

  1. Locate the capping station sensor shown in the video
  2. Remove the single screw holding the sensor
  3. Lift the sensor up
  4. Unplug the cable from the sensor
  5. If glue is present on the connector, peel it off first, then unplug
  6. Plug the cable into the new sensor
  7. Place the sensor back into the same position
  8. Reinstall the screw to secure the sensor
  9. Turn the printer ON and verify the issue is resolved
  10. If the issue remains, contact DTF Station Tech Support
