Overview and Scope

  1. Confirm you are using a Prestige R1 printer.
  2. Verify you are switching to Color Prime Chroma DTF ink.
  3. Prepare to remove as much existing ink as possible before adding new ink.

Step 1 – Empty Existing Ink Bottles

What you need

  • Perform this process for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black
  • Ink is water-based and water soluble
  • Wear gloves as needed
  • Dispose of ink according to local regulations
  1. Use a syringe to manually pull ink out of each CMYK ink bottle.
  2. Pull slowly to avoid spilling ink.
  3. If needed, attach the extra tubing included with the printer to the syringe to extend its reach.
  4. Continue until each CMYK bottle is as close to empty as possible.

Step 2 – Pinch the White Ink Line

What you need

  • Clamp location may vary depending on R1 version
  1. Pinch the white ink line connected to the bottle.
  2. If your Prestige R1 does not have the pinch point at the bottle, locate it above the damper instead.
  3. Verify the line is fully clamped.

Step 3 – Perform Pre-Fill Maintenance

  1. Clean the capping station around the print head.
  2. Clean the wiper blade.
  3. Ensure the capping station can create proper suction.

Step 4 – Run Fill Ink to Clear Existing Ink

What you need

  • Fill Ink duration may range from 30 seconds to 1 minute
  • Process may take several minutes depending on ink volume
  1. Run Fill Ink from the printer menu.
  2. Observe ink flowing into the waste line.
  3. Allow Fill Ink to continue until ink flow stops.
  4. Continue until tubes above the dampers are empty or air bubbles appear in the ink lines.

Step 5 – Add Color Prime Chroma Ink

  1. Fill each CMYK ink bottle with Color Prime Chroma ink.
  2. Fill each bottle all the way to the top.

Step 6 – Prime the System with New Ink

  1. Run Fill Ink again.
  2. Wait until all ink lines are completely full with new ink.
  3. Run three consecutive head cleans.
  4. Perform a nozzle check.

Completion

  • Color Prime Chroma ink is fully loaded
  • Ink lines are full
  • Nozzle check is acceptable
  • Printer is ready for production
