- Confirm you are using a Prestige R1 printer.
- Verify you are switching to Color Prime Chroma DTF ink.
- Prepare to remove as much existing ink as possible before adding new ink.
Step 1 – Empty Existing Ink Bottles
What you need
- Perform this process for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black
- Ink is water-based and water soluble
- Wear gloves as needed
- Dispose of ink according to local regulations
- Use a syringe to manually pull ink out of each CMYK ink bottle.
- Pull slowly to avoid spilling ink.
- If needed, attach the extra tubing included with the printer to the syringe to extend its reach.
- Continue until each CMYK bottle is as close to empty as possible.
What you need
- Clamp location may vary depending on R1 version
- Pinch the white ink line connected to the bottle.
- If your Prestige R1 does not have the pinch point at the bottle, locate it above the damper instead.
- Verify the line is fully clamped.
Step 3 – Perform Pre-Fill Maintenance
- Clean the capping station around the print head.
- Clean the wiper blade.
- Ensure the capping station can create proper suction.
What you need
- Fill Ink duration may range from 30 seconds to 1 minute
- Process may take several minutes depending on ink volume
- Run Fill Ink from the printer menu.
- Observe ink flowing into the waste line.
- Allow Fill Ink to continue until ink flow stops.
- Continue until tubes above the dampers are empty or air bubbles appear in the ink lines.
- Fill each CMYK ink bottle with Color Prime Chroma ink.
- Fill each bottle all the way to the top.
Step 6 – Prime the System with New Ink
- Run Fill Ink again.
- Wait until all ink lines are completely full with new ink.
- Run three consecutive head cleans.
- Perform a nozzle check.
