Head Strike Sensor Function Explanation
What you need
- Sensor guard triggers the sensor when pushed inward
- Bent sensor guard can hold the sensor in a triggered state
- Turn the printer off.
- Rotate the capping station knob counterclockwise until the capping station lowers.
- Hold the knob in place.
- Push the carriage to the center of the printer bed.
- Loosen the two screws securing the head strike sensor guard.
- Slide the guard upward to remove it.
- Inspect the guard for bending.
- Bend the guard back to its proper shape if bent.
- Reinstall the guard.
- Tighten the two screws.
What you need
- Guard is not touching the sensor
- A visible gap exists between guard and sensor
- Guard only triggers the sensor upon contact
- Check if the guard is too low and contacting the printer bed or media guides.
- Place a quarter flat under the guard.
- Adjust the guard height using the quarter as a reference.

Step 2 – Inspect Head Strike Sensor Cable at Daughterboard
What you need
- Connector pins are intact
- No ink residue present
- Cable fully seated
- Turn the printer off.
- Remove the two screws on the top lid.
- Remove the daughterboard cover by loosening screws on both sides.
- Locate the head strike sensor cable.
- Unplug the cable.
- Inspect the connector and pins for damage or ink residue.
- Clean ink residue using a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol if needed.
- If damage is found, contact a DTF Station technician.
- Plug the cable back in.
- Reinstall the daughterboard cover.
- Turn the printer back on.
