Safety Disclaimer and Scope

  1. Confirm this procedure is being performed only with Level 3 Tech Support guidance or recommendation.
  2. Verify the printer models applicable are Prestige L2 and Prestige XL2.

Required Supplies

What you need

  • Printhead storage box
  • Lint-free cloth
  • Cleaning swab
  • Syringe
  • Ink tube
  • Cleaning solution
  • Two clean cups
  • Alternative clean container (if original printhead container is unavailable)

Preparing the Cleaning Solution

  1. Pour a small amount of cleaning solution into one clean cup.
  2. Run the cleaning solution through a disk filter to remove contaminants.
  3. If unsure how to filter the solution or if a disk filter is unavailable, contact DTF Station support for assistance.
  4. Lightly microwave the cleaning solution until it is warm to improve cleaning effectiveness.
  5. Ensure the cleaning solution is warm only and not hot.

Flushing the Printhead Channels

  1. Draw the filtered cleaning solution into the syringe.
  2. Connect the ink tube securely to the printhead.
  3. Push the ink tube fully into the printhead to ensure a solid connection.
  4. Slowly press the syringe to push cleaning solution through the printhead.
  5. Use the second clean cup to catch the cleaning solution as it exits the printhead.
  6. Apply firm but gentle pressure to avoid damaging the printhead.
  7. Repeat this process for every channel on the printhead to ensure thorough cleaning.

Cleaning the Printhead Exterior

  1. Use a lint-free cloth to gently remove excess cleaning solution from the printhead.
  2. Do not wipe the face or bottom of the printhead.
  3. Clean only the top of the printhead to remove remaining liquid.
  4. Use a cleaning swab to carefully clean the top of the printhead to remove any remaining ink residue.

Storing the Printhead

  1. Place the cleaned printhead into the printhead storage box.
  2. Tie two ink tubes as demonstrated.
  3. Connect the tied ink tubes to each channel on the printhead.
  4. Close the storage box securely.
  5. Store the printhead to prevent drying and cross-contamination.
