Before you start

What you need

  • Compatible with Prestige L2, XL2, XL3 & XL4; NOT XL2 Pro

Access the Control Panel

  1. Open the right side panel to create working space.
  2. Locate the two screws on the right side of the control panel frame and remove them.
  3. Open the front cover.
  4. Locate the two screws on the left side of the control panel and remove them.

Disconnect the Control Panel

What you need

  • This section does not apply to Prestige L2 or XL2 printers.
  1. Access the area behind the control panel through the right side opening.
  2. Identify the control panel assembly directly behind the touchscreen.
  3. Remove the red connector by pressing the latch and pulling the connector straight out.
  4. Locate the button attached to the control panel.
  5. Hold the button from the front to prevent rotation.
  6. From the inside, turn the nut counterclockwise to remove it.
  7. Push the button out from the front.
  8. Remove the control panel assembly from the printer.
  9. On the back of the control panel, remove the five screws securing the board.
  10. Flip the panel over and locate the ribbon cable.
  11. Remove any adhesive securing the ribbon cable.
  12. Pull the ribbon cable straight out without wiggling.
  13. Slide the ribbon cable through the slot to fully remove the old control panel.

Prepare the New Control Panel

  1. Remove the five screws on the back of the new control panel to access the connector.
  2. Feed the ribbon cable through the opening on the new control panel.
  3. Insert the ribbon cable with the blue side facing downward.
  4. Ensure the contact teeth align with the connector pins.
  5. Push the cable in evenly across the width of the connector.
  6. Reinstall the board and secure it with the five screws.

Install the Control Panel

  1. Place the control panel into its original location in the printer.
  2. Slide the panel down until the screen aligns with the front window.
  3. Confirm the panel clicks into position.
  4. Turn the printer on to test the control panel screen and buttons.
  5. Turn the printer off after confirming functionality.
  6. Install the two right-side screws without fully tightening them.
  7. Install the two left-side screws.
  8. Tighten all four screws fully once aligned.

Reinstall the Button and Wiring

  1. Identify the notch on the side of the button.
  2. Insert the button through the opening.
  3. Hold the button from the front.
  4. Thread the nut onto the back side.
  5. Turn the nut clockwise until fully tightened.
  6. Reconnect the red connector to the button assembly.

Reassemble the Printer

  1. Close the right side panel.
  2. Close the front cover.
  3. Confirm the control panel replacement is complete.
