TOOLS NEEDED

  • Screwdriver
  • Scissors
  • Syringe
  • Lint-free cloth
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Replacement damper

Step 1 – Move the Carriage to Service Position

  1. Power ON the printer.
  2. Open the top lid.
  3. Press and hold the LEFT ARROW button until the printer carriage moves to the center.
  4. Remove the screws securing the printer carriage cover.
  5. Remove the carriage cover.

Step 2 – Isolate the Ink Line

  1. Locate the damper you are replacing.
  2. Clamp the ink tube feeding that damper to stop ink flow.

Step 3 – Remove the Old Damper

  1. Carefully remove the damper by holding ONLY the hard outer plastic frame.
  2. DO NOT touch or squeeze the soft side (damper belly).
  3. Keep paper towels nearby to catch any ink.

Step 4 – Cut the Ink Tube

  1. Use sharp scissors to cut the ink tube: As close to the damper as possible
  2. A crooked cut can cause air leaks.
  • Perfectly straight

Step 5 – Clean Any Ink Spillage

  1. If ink contacts the print head or ribbon cables: Clean using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
  2. Allow all cleaned areas to dry completely. IMPORTANT NOTES
  • DO NOT use alcohol on:
  • Capping station caps
  • Wiper blade
  • Pinch rollers
  • Alcohol will dry rubber and shorten component lifespan.

Step 6 – Install the New Damper

  1. Insert the new damper: Either connect the tube first, or
  2. Push the ink tube fully onto the damper connector until flush.
  3. Unclamp the ink tube.
  • Seat the damper into the printhead for alignment.

Step 7 – Prime the New Damper

  1. Attach a syringe to the damper outlet.
  2. Slowly pull ink until: The damper fills completely CHECK FOR DEFECTS
  • Ink enters the syringe
  • GOOD DAMPER:
  • Ink flows smoothly
  • No bubbles during pull
  • BAD DAMPER:
  • Bubbles appear while pulling
  • Ink leaks after syringe removal

Step 8 – Reinstall and Reset

  1. Place the primed damper fully into its slot.
  2. Press ENTER to reset the carriage position.
  3. Press CLEANING on the printer to run a head cleaning.
  4. Perform a Fill Ink if needed.
  • Refer to the Heavy Unclog video if required.

Step 9 – Verify Repair

  1. Open HosenSoft.
  2. Click CHECK to print a nozzle check pattern. RESULT CHECK
  • If all nozzles fire correctly:
  • Damper replacement is successful.
  • If issues persist:
  • Further troubleshooting may be required.
