- Required tools:
- Digital microscope (recommended) Pen
- Phone camera (acceptable alternative)
- Open DTF Station Pilot.
- Set the correct print start position.
- Perform a nozzle check.
- If the printer has been idle for 20+ minutes:
- Run two head cleanings consecutively before the nozzle check
- Proceed only if the nozzle pattern:
- Matches or looks better than the example shown in the video
- Perform ink fills or additional head cleanings if needed.
- Turn off the LED light.
- Trick the cover sensor:
- Place a metal object over the sensor shown in the video
- A carriage lock or magnet may be used
- This allows calibration with the cover open.
Adjusts pinch roller speed Minimizes horizontal banding Ideal result: Zero value shows strong overlap Adjacent values within ±1 Run Test Print again to confirm.
- In Pilot, open the Step Calibration sub-tab.
- Click Test Print.
- The printer outputs:
- Three sets of two horizontal lines
- Each set has numeric values beneath it
- Identify the set with the best overlap.
- Compare all three sets
- Use decimal values if needed
- Example from video
- 0 = good overlap
- +1 = similar to 0
- → Enter 0.5 and click Apply
- ⚠️ Strongly recommended to use a digital microscope
- Skip this step if you do not have one and return later if print issues occur.
- Open the Channel Calibration sub-tab.
- Click Test Print.
- Six nozzle bars print in this order:
- Black (reference)
- Cyan
- Magenta
- Yellow
- White
- Calibration method:
- Black is the base channel
- For each color:
- Compare overlap with black
- Check 0 first
- Then compare -1, +1, -2, etc.
- Choose the value with the cleanest overlap.
- Adjustment rule
- New value = Current value + selected offset
- Example:
- Current value: 1
- Best overlap at: -1
- Result: 1 + (-1) = 0
- Apply this method for:
- Cyan
- Magenta
- Yellow
- White
- After each adjustment:
- Run Test Print again
- Confirm zero bar is now the best overlap
- Channels often resolve to 0, with occasional ±1 values.
- Repeat the same process used for left direction.
- Follow identical evaluation logic:
- Black as reference
- Select best overlap
- Apply calculated value
- Re-test after each change
- Purpose:
- Ensures left-to-right and right-to-left passes align
- Prevents blurry or doubled prints
- Click Test Print under bidirectional calibration.
- Two black bars will print:
- One left-to-right
- One right-to-left
- Evaluation:
- Start with 0
- If doubled, check -1, -2, +1, +2
- Example from video: 1 = clean, single bar
- +1 = worse
- Adjustment example:
- Current value: 11
- Best overlap: -1
- New value: 10
- Save the value.
- Advance film slightly and re-test.
- Enter Advanced Mode:
- Click Advance
- Password: 61 ones
- Go to the Firmware tab.
- Select Export Firmware.
- Save the file:
- Store locally
- Back up to USB or cloud storage
- Press OK and exit Advanced Mode.
- Step 8: Final Verification (12:38–End)Proceed to DigiRip.
- Run a print alignment test.
- Confirm:
- Colors align cleanly
- No banding or fuzziness
- If issues remain:
- Return to the appropriate calibration step
- Re-test after each adjustment
- ResultPrint head, color channels, and bidirectional alignment are fully calibrated for sharp, accurate, high-speed printing.
