Preparation & Nozzle Check Verification

  1. Required tools:
  2. Digital microscope (recommended) Pen
  3. Phone camera (acceptable alternative)
  4. Open DTF Station Pilot.
  5. Set the correct print start position.
  6. Perform a nozzle check.
  7. If the printer has been idle for 20+ minutes:
  8. Run two head cleanings consecutively before the nozzle check
  9. Proceed only if the nozzle pattern:
  10. Matches or looks better than the example shown in the video
  11. Perform ink fills or additional head cleanings if needed.

Bypass Cover Sensor for Calibration

  1. Turn off the LED light.
  2. Trick the cover sensor:
  3. Place a metal object over the sensor shown in the video
  4. A carriage lock or magnet may be used
  5. This allows calibration with the cover open.

Step Calibration (Pinch Roller Accuracy)

Adjusts pinch roller speed Minimizes horizontal banding Ideal result: Zero value shows strong overlap Adjacent values within ±1 Run Test Print again to confirm.

  1. In Pilot, open the Step Calibration sub-tab.
  2. Click Test Print.
  3. The printer outputs:
  4. Three sets of two horizontal lines
  5. Each set has numeric values beneath it
  6. Identify the set with the best overlap.
  7. Compare all three sets
  8. Use decimal values if needed
  9. Example from video
  10. 0 = good overlap
  11. +1 = similar to 0
  12. → Enter 0.5 and click Apply
  • 1 = misaligned

Channel Calibration – Left Direction

  1. ⚠️ Strongly recommended to use a digital microscope
  2. Skip this step if you do not have one and return later if print issues occur.
  3. Open the Channel Calibration sub-tab.
  4. Click Test Print.
  5. Six nozzle bars print in this order:
  6. Black (reference)
  7. Cyan
  8. Magenta
  9. Yellow
  10. White
  11. Calibration method:
  12. Black is the base channel
  13. For each color:
  14. Compare overlap with black
  15. Check 0 first
  16. Then compare -1, +1, -2, etc.
  17. Choose the value with the cleanest overlap.
  18. Adjustment rule
  19. New value = Current value + selected offset
  20. Example:
  21. Current value: 1
  22. Best overlap at: -1
  23. Result: 1 + (-1) = 0
  24. Apply this method for:
  25. Cyan
  26. Magenta
  27. Yellow
  28. White
  29. After each adjustment:
  30. Run Test Print again
  31. Confirm zero bar is now the best overlap
  32. Channels often resolve to 0, with occasional ±1 values.

Channel Calibration – Right Direction

  1. Repeat the same process used for left direction.
  2. Follow identical evaluation logic:
  3. Black as reference
  4. Select best overlap
  5. Apply calculated value
  6. Re-test after each change

Bidirectional Calibration

  1. Purpose:
  2. Ensures left-to-right and right-to-left passes align
  3. Prevents blurry or doubled prints
  4. Click Test Print under bidirectional calibration.
  5. Two black bars will print:
  6. One left-to-right
  7. One right-to-left
  8. Evaluation:
  9. Start with 0
  10. If doubled, check -1, -2, +1, +2
  11. Example from video: 1 = clean, single bar
  12. +1 = worse
  13. Adjustment example:
  14. Current value: 11
  15. Best overlap: -1
  16. New value: 10
  17. Save the value.
  18. Advance film slightly and re-test.
  • 2 = doubled

Saving Firmware (Required if Zero Bar Is Correct)

  1. Enter Advanced Mode:
  2. Click Advance
  3. Password: 61 ones
  4. Go to the Firmware tab.
  5. Select Export Firmware.
  6. Save the file:
  7. Store locally
  8. Back up to USB or cloud storage
  9. Press OK and exit Advanced Mode.
  10. Step 8: Final Verification (12:38–End)Proceed to DigiRip.
  11. Run a print alignment test.
  12. Confirm:
  13. Colors align cleanly
  14. No banding or fuzziness
  15. If issues remain:
  16. Return to the appropriate calibration step
  17. Re-test after each adjustment
  18. ResultPrint head, color channels, and bidirectional alignment are fully calibrated for sharp, accurate, high-speed printing.
