Issue Overview and Required Tools

What you need

  • Multimeter
  • Screwdriver
  1. Identify that the preheating plate is not heating or the temperature reading is inaccurate.
  2. Understand the three possible causes: wire connections, preheating plate, or temperature display.
  3. Turn off the Miro 13 Max main power.
  4. Allow the preheating plate to cool to room temperature before proceeding.

Accessing Internal Wiring

  1. Turn off the main power.
  2. Unplug the power socket.
  3. Open the top heating chamber.
  4. Carefully lift the heating plate toward the back.
  5. Only perform this step when the unit is powered down and cooled.
  6. Be cautious of sharp edges.
  7. Avoid pulling the plate too far to prevent wire disconnection.

Checking Wire Connections

  1. Gently pull on the preheating plate wires.
  2. Gently pull on the temperature display wires.
  3. Tighten any loose screws.
  4. If wires were loose, this may have been the cause of the issue.
  5. Turn the power back on.
  6. Check if the preheating plate is functioning properly.

Testing Preheating Plate Voltage

What you need

  • No voltage reading: thermocouple may be damaged and the preheating plate requires replacement
  • Normal voltage reading: proceed to temperature display troubleshooting
  1. If wiring is secure, set the multimeter to read voltage.
  2. Inspect the two thin wires connected to the preheating plate.
  3. Check for a voltage reading.

Testing the Temperature Display

  1. Plug in the power socket.
  2. Turn on the power.
  3. Check if the temperature display turns on.
  4. Reinspect wiring connections.
  5. If the display does not activate, replacement is required.

Preparing to Replace the Temperature Display

What you need

  • Screwdriver
  • Replacement temperature display
  1. Turn off the power.
  2. Remove the powder tray.
  3. Loosen the screws and remove the side panel.
  4. Remove the lid.
  5. Remove the media wheel.
  6. Take a photo of the back of the temperature display for reference.
  7. Detach the wires from the display.

Removing and Installing the Temperature Display

  1. Remove the two plastic clips by pulling them outward and sliding them upward.
  2. Remove the old temperature display.
  3. Install the new display in the correct orientation.
  4. Use the reference photo to reconnect the wires.
  5. Reinsert the plastic clips using the reverse removal method.
  6. Push all wires fully into place.
  7. Tighten the screws.
  8. Reattach all covers.
  9. Turn on the power and verify the display reads temperature correctly.

Preparing to Replace the Preheating Plate

  • Replacement preheating plate
  • Screwdriver
  • Cable ties
  1. Turn off the power.
  2. Remove the powder tray.
  3. Loosen the screws and remove the side panel.
  4. Remove the media wheel.
  5. Open the top heating chamber.
  6. Carefully lift the heating plate toward the back.
  7. Confirm the unit is powered down and cooled.
  8. Be cautious of sharp edges.
  9. Avoid pulling the plate too far.

Removing the Preheating Plate

  1. Remove the cord cover.
  2. Take a photo of the wire connectors for reference.
  3. Loosen the screws and disconnect the wires.
  4. Cut any cable ties securing the wires.
  5. Close the heating chamber.
  6. Loosen the screws on both sides of the preheating plate.
  7. Remove the bearing from inside the preheating plate.
  8. Slide the preheating plate out of the shaker.

Installing the New Preheating Plate

  1. Keep the side panel open.
  2. Insert the bearings into the new preheating plate.
  3. Secure the bearings with screws.
  4. Feed the wires through the designated hole.
  5. Use cable ties to tidy the wiring if needed.
  6. Open the top heating chamber.
  7. Reconnect the wires to their correct positions.
  8. Tighten all screws securely.
  9. Reattach the main heating plate.
  10. Close the heating chamber.
  11. Reinstall the side panel and all removed components.
  12. Turn on the power.
  13. Test the preheating plate for proper operation.
