From a text prompt to a print-ready spot color file for the Lumen S24F, all inside Image Presto: generate the artwork, remove the background and build the spot channels.

Written steps10

Open Image Presto

Watch this part0:15
  1. Start at imagepresto.com and click Launch App.
  2. If you already have artwork, you can go straight to the Spot Channel tool. This video generates the artwork from scratch.

Generate the artwork

Watch this part0:29
  1. Open Image Generation and type a short prompt for your logo.
  2. Click Generate. A few seconds later the artwork is ready.

Remove the background

Watch this part0:40
  1. Open the next tool menu and choose Remove Background.
  2. The default model, General Use Fast, works well on simple backgrounds like this one. The list also has other models, plus Magic Wand and Magic Threshold for removing specific colors.
  3. Click Remove Background, then drag the slider to compare the original with the result.
  4. Send the image to the Spot Channel Editor.

Select the first area (W1)

Watch this part1:21
  1. The white body of the rocket gets a raised texture on the first channel, W1.
  2. Under Selection Mode, click Wand. Hover over any setting title to see what it does.
  3. Set Match By to Lab Color, which works best on clean graphic artwork.
  4. As you move over the image, a magnifier helps you click precisely. Click the white body of the rocket.

Adjust the tolerance

Watch this part1:48
  1. Only part of the white is selected, and that is okay. Drag the Tolerance slider to the right; the selection updates live.
  2. At around 68 the whole white body is selected.
  3. Push it further and the selection spreads past the rocket, so set it back to the value that fit.
  4. The relief style for W1 stays Twill Weave.

Add a varnish channel (V1)

Watch this part2:16
  1. Add a second channel and name it V1, for varnish.
  2. Click Wand again, and choose a different relief style so the two are easy to tell apart. Here, Zigzag.
  3. This time the target is every continent on the planet. Color mode could grab all the greens at once, but the Wand works here too.
  4. Click a continent. Each extra click adds to the selection.
  5. Three clicks and most of the continents are selected. You can keep clicking the smaller islands, or nudge the tolerance up slightly.
  • Channel names must be exactly W1, W2, V1 or V2. Any other name will not print white or varnish on the Lumen S24F.

Set the scale and generate

Watch this part3:23
  1. There are now two channels, W1 and V1, each with its own selection.
  2. The Scale slider sets the size of the texture, and the preview updates live. Set it to 10.
  3. Click Generate All. A few seconds later the combined output appears.

Check each channel

Watch this part3:47
  1. Open the W1 channel. It shows the white body of the rocket with the Twill Weave texture.
  2. Switch to V1, and there is the zigzag on the continents.
  3. If a texture looks too large, go back, lower the scale and regenerate. Check V1 again: the pattern is now smaller.

View the 3D relief

Watch this part4:19
  1. Switch to 3D Relief to see the depth of the design.
  2. You can view both channels together, or one channel at a time.

Export for NeoStampa

Watch this part4:43
  1. When you are happy with the result, click Multi-Channel TIFF to export.
  2. That file goes straight into NeoStampa for printing on the Lumen S24F.
