Overview of Setup Black Removal

  1. Use Setup Black Removal to determine the optimal amount of black ink that can be removed from job files.
  2. Allow the black garment to substitute for black ink.
  3. Use this wizard to reduce ink usage while maintaining print quality.

Launching the Setup Black Removal Wizard

  1. Open the Q menu.
  2. Select Setup Black Removal.
  3. Prepare a file typical of your production work, or select a test file from RIP system targets.
  4. Set the image size.
  5. Click Next.

Configuring Black Removal Test Range

  1. Set the minimum black removal percentage.
  2. Set the maximum black removal percentage.
  3. Set the increment value.
  4. Example configuration: Minimum: 30%
  5. Confirm that this configuration produces four charts: 30%
  6. Click Print Charts.
  • Maximum: 75%
  • Increment: 15%
  • 45%
  • 60%
  • 75%

Selecting the Preferred Black Removal Value

  1. Print the generated charts.
  2. Review the printed results.
  3. Determine the highest black removal value that does not negatively impact print quality.
  4. Enter the selected chart value.
  5. Click Next.

Adjusting White Underbase in Semi-Transparent Areas

  1. Proceed to the step for determining white underbase in semi-transparent or garment-visible areas.
  2. Understand that this step does not affect 100% white underbase.
  3. Note that maximum white underbase is controlled separately using the Set Maximum White Ink wizard.

  2. Understand that charts vary within the 50% to 90% range.
  3. Click Print Charts.
  4. Print as many chart categories as needed.

  3. Enter the selected value.
