Digirip / Pilot - How to Make & Print with PRN File

This guide explains how to create and print **PRN (Print Ready Network)** files using **DigiRIP** and **DTF Station Pilot**, and provides a brief overview of the **Print** tab in Pilot. PRN files contain all required data for the printer to process an image without re-RIPing. Creating a PRN File in DigiRIP

1. Import your images into the **Active Queue**.

1. Click **Q**.
2. Select **Manage Queues** to open the **Queue Manager**.

1. From the **Port** dropdown menu, select **File**.
2. Click the **Port Properties** icon (three-dot box).

1. Choose the **output folder**.
2. Set the output file name: Use **Job Name** (recommended for organization).
3. Click **Print Job** to generate the PRN file.

• Example: **Desktop**

Printing the PRN File in Pilot

• The job will move to the **Reserved Queue**.
• The PRN file will appear in the selected output folder.

1. Switch to **DTF Station Pilot**.
2. Click the **File** tab.
3. Browse to the folder containing the PRN file (e.g., Desktop).

• Double-click the PRN file **or**
• Right-click the PRN file and send it to the printer.

1. The PRN appears under **Active Jobs** in the **Print** tab.
2. Select the file.
3. Click **Print**.

Pilot Print Tab Overview

• You may be prompted to select pass settings.
• Recommendation:
• Keep **default settings**.
• Check **No more hints**.
• Click **OK** to proceed.

• Main screen displays:
• Job status
• Progress
• File details

1. Double-click the job.
2. Access options including: Copy count Ink Settings & Statistics

• Ink settings
• Ink usage statistics

• Adjust:
• Ink density
• Individual colors
• White ink passes
• Recommendation:
• Keep all inks at **100%** unless instructed otherwise.

Job Management Options

• Displays:
• Ink usage per color
• Usage in **milliliters**
• Enter **price per liter** to calculate estimated total ink cost.

Returning to Normal (TCP/IP) Printing

• Right-click a job to:
• Cancel the job
• Clear the job list
• **Pause** and **Cancel** buttons are also available in the top menu.

1. Return to **DigiRIP**.
2. Click **Q** → **Manage Queues**.
3. Change the port back to **TCP/IP**.
4. Select **127.0.0.1**. Final Notes PRN file workflow is now complete.

• PRN files are ideal for controlled, repeatable printing.
• Pilot allows detailed inspection and cost analysis before printing.
• Always switch DigiRIP back to TCP/IP when returning to one-step printing.
