This guide explains how to adjust **white ink** and **varnish (clear ink)** settings for the Aries UV DTF printer in DigiRIP. Adjustments are made through **Q Properties** and verified at the **Print Mode** level.
Accessing Q Properties Click **Queue (Q)**. Select **Properties**. Confirm your **Default Print Mode** is selected. Leave the default print mode selected. Example shown: **Production Res**.
Adjusting White Ink Settings Go to the **Color Layer** tab. Select **Processing Options**. Under **White and Color**: **Maximum White Ink Percentage** is set to **100%**. Leave these settings unchanged unless instructed otherwise. **Underbase and Highlight** is enabled. Locate the **Choke** setting. Current example value: **2**. Choke behavior: Higher values pull white ink inward under the color layer. Recommendation: If white ink is visible around image edges, **increase the choke value** to hide white beneath the color.
Adjusting Varnish (Clear Ink) Settings Click the **Clear and Other Spot Options** tab. Under **Clear Options**, ensure **Apply** is checked.
Maximum Clear Ink Percentage Locate **Maximum Ink Percentage**. Example default: **45%**. Increase for more aggressive varnish coverage: Example values: **55%–65%**. Higher values result in thicker varnish deposition. Locate **Spread the Clear Ink**. Example value: **5**. Behavior: Higher values spread varnish farther beyond the image. Recommendations: Test different values to find the optimal balance. Increased spread improves durability. For **clear substrates**, use a **lower value** to prevent excess varnish visibility. Once adjustments are complete, click **OK**.
Applying Settings to the Print Mode Go to **Devices**. Click **Manage Print Modes**. Select the active print mode. Go to the **Color Layer** tab. Select **Processing Options**. Apply the same white and varnish settings. Click **Save**. Close the window. Example shown: **Production Res**. Select a different print mode. Switch back to the original print mode. Confirm the updated settings remain applied.
