This video explains the different production markup modes, offset and segment length settings, and how to correctly set up registration marks for the Arc 127 cutter. The Prestige XL3 printer is used as an example, but the workflow applies broadly.
Open Queue Settings. Go to the “Production Markup” tab. Select “Arc 127.” If Arc 127 is not listed: Click “Queue.” Select “Manage Queues.” Verify the Arc 127 driver is installed and available. Select it if needed. Set the mode to “Per Content.” Import an image. Switch the mode to “Per Page.” Recommended setting: Use “Per Content.” Registration and start marks are applied based on the imported content. Registration marks are applied around the entire page. “Per Page” is generally not recommended for this workflow. Leave the mark color set to the default value of black. Default offset for DTF is 4 mm. Increasing the offset (example: 14 mm): Increases space between the edge of the film and the printable area. Recommended setting: Leave offset at 4 mm for DTF. Reduces the usable print width. Enable the “Use Segments” checkbox. Default segment length is 500 mm. Import images to see automatic segmentation. Each segment is defined by registration marks spaced by the segment length. Registration marks appear at fixed segment intervals. Example: One mark at 350 mm. Another at 850 mm. Distance between them is 500 mm, defining two segments. Import images with shorter print lengths. Create multiple copies (example: 100 copies). If the print length is shorter than the segment length: The cutter may cut into the print. To fix this: Reduce the segment length (example: 350 mm). After reducing the segment length, the job may split into multiple segments. Increase the number of copies (example: 200 copies). Observe the job dividing into additional segments. The cutter processes each segment sequentially. Segment length depends on: Print size Quantity of prints More segments result in longer cutting times. The camera must stop and read each registration mark before cutting. For segments to work correctly: Virtual tiling must be enabled. Go to the “Cutter Options” tab. Enable “Virtual Tiling.” Set the virtual tile length to match the segment length. Example: If segment length is 500 mm, virtual tile length must also be 500 mm. Ensure “Add Start Marks” is enabled. Optionally enable “Add End Marks.” Typical usage: Start marks only. The start mark arrow indicates cut direction. Helps identify correct media loading orientation. End marks display arrows at the end of the segment. Leave the cutter offset setting at its default value. Enable “From End of Roll.” Allows the cutter to operate more continuously. Confirm “Do Not Apply Processing Options to Markup Systems” is enabled. In the Processing Options tab: White and varnish settings are controlled here. With this option enabled: White ink or varnish will not be applied to registration marks.
