This video explains the different production markup modes, offset and segment length settings, and how to correctly set up registration marks for the Arc 127 cutter. The Prestige XL3 printer is used as an example, but the workflow applies broadly.

Select the Arc 127 in Production Markup

  1. Open Queue Settings.
  2. Go to the “Production Markup” tab.
  3. Select “Arc 127.”
  4. If Arc 127 is not listed: Click “Queue.”
  • Select “Manage Queues.”
  • Verify the Arc 127 driver is installed and available.
  • Select it if needed.

Production Markup Modes

  1. Set the mode to “Per Content.”
  2. Import an image.
  3. Switch the mode to “Per Page.”
  4. Recommended setting: Use “Per Content.”
  • Registration and start marks are applied based on the imported content.
  • Registration marks are applied around the entire page.
  • “Per Page” is generally not recommended for this workflow.

Offset Setting

  1. Default offset for DTF is 4 mm.
  2. Increasing the offset (example: 14 mm): Increases space between the edge of the film and the printable area.
  3. Recommended setting: Leave offset at 4 mm for DTF.
  • Reduces the usable print width.

Segment Length Setup

  1. Enable the “Use Segments” checkbox.
  2. Default segment length is 500 mm.
  3. Import images to see automatic segmentation.
  4. Each segment is defined by registration marks spaced by the segment length.

Understanding Segment Behavior

  2. Example: One mark at 350 mm.
  • Another at 850 mm.
  • Distance between them is 500 mm, defining two segments.

Adjusting Segment Length for Short Prints

  3. If the print length is shorter than the segment length: The cutter may cut into the print.
  4. To fix this: Reduce the segment length (example: 350 mm).

  2. Increase the number of copies (example: 200 copies).
  3. Observe the job dividing into additional segments.
  4. The cutter processes each segment sequentially.

Segment Length Considerations

  • More segments result in longer cutting times.
  • The camera must stop and read each registration mark before cutting.

Virtual Tiling Requirement

  1. For segments to work correctly: Virtual tiling must be enabled.
  2. Go to the “Cutter Options” tab.
  3. Enable “Virtual Tiling.”
  4. Set the virtual tile length to match the segment length.
  • Example: If segment length is 500 mm, virtual tile length must also be 500 mm.

Start and End Marks

  1. Ensure “Add Start Marks” is enabled.
  2. Optionally enable “Add End Marks.”
  3. Typical usage: Start marks only.
  • The start mark arrow indicates cut direction.
  • Helps identify correct media loading orientation.
  • End marks display arrows at the end of the segment.

Additional Cutter Options

  1. Leave the cutter offset setting at its default value.
  2. Enable “From End of Roll.”
  • Allows the cutter to operate more continuously.

Processing Options and Markup Behavior

  2. In the Processing Options tab: White and varnish settings are controlled here.
  3. With this option enabled: White ink or varnish will not be applied to registration marks.
