Overview and Alignment Goal

  1. The goal is to center the capping station directly under the print head.
  2. Proper alignment ensures correct sealing, cleaning, and flashing behavior.

Initial Alignment Check

  1. With the printer ON, press the Enter button on the control panel.
  2. Observe the contact point between the print head and the capping station.
  3. Optional secondary method: Turn the printer OFF.
  • Manually rotate the capping station knob to raise and lower it.
  • This allows slower, more precise visual inspection.

Identifying Misalignment

  1. Inspect whether the print head is centered over the capping station.
  2. If the print head is shifted left or right, adjustment is required.

Entering Factory Mode in Pilot Software

  1. Open Pilot Software.
  2. Go to Advance.
  3. Press Ctrl + F12 on your keyboard.
  4. Confirm button will change to Factory mode.
  5. Enter the password: 2222
  6. Press Enter.
  • Depending on your system, this may be:
  • Ctrl + Fn + F12
  • Ctrl + Option + F12

Adjusting X Motor Home Position

  1. Go to the Booth Initialization tab.
  2. Locate the X Motor section.
  3. Find the value labeled Hit Limit Back to Zero Distance.
  4. Understand adjustment behavior: Higher value = carriage moves LEFT
  5. Current example value: 800 (print head shifted left).
  6. Reduce the value to move the print head right.
  7. Change the value in increments of 50 for precision.
  8. Example adjustment: Change value from 800 to 200.
  9. Go to File → Save → OK.
  10. Go to Operation → Initialize.
  11. Observe the new print head position.
  • Lower value = carriage moves RIGHT

Fine-Tuning Center Alignment

  1. If the print head overshoots and shifts too far: Adjust the value in the opposite direction.
  2. Example: Change value from 200 to 300.
  3. Go to File → Save → OK.
  4. Go to Operation → Initialize.
  5. Confirm the print head is centered over the capping station.

Verifying X Motor Movement

  1. In Pilot Software, go to the X Motor tab.
  2. Change the value to 100.
  3. Click Check.
  4. Confirm: Carriage moves to 100 mm.
  5. Go to File → Save → OK.
  6. Go to Operation → Initialize.
  • Carriage returns to 0.

Adjusting Capping Station Height (Wetting)

  1. Go to the Ink Stack tab.
  2. Locate Wetting the Ink Stack Height.
  3. Objective: Cap presses slightly into the print head.
  4. Current example value: 25,000.
  5. Adjust in increments of 100–1,000.
  6. Example: Change value to 20,000.
  7. Match Pump the Ink Stack Height to the same value.
  8. Click Confirm and observe behavior.
  9. Increase slightly if needed (example: 21,000).
  10. Confirm proper seal without carriage lift.
  • Carriage must NOT be pushed upward.

Adjusting Flash Height

  1. Locate Flash the Ink Stack Height.
  2. Objective: Cap should be very close to print head.
  3. Click Confirm to observe current behavior.
  4. If touching: Lower the value.
  5. Example adjustments: 20,600 → 19,600 → Confirm
  6. Confirm visible gap with no contact.
  • No contact during flashing.
  • If still touching, reduce further (example: 16,000).

Adjusting Wiper Blade Height

  1. Use the Left Arrow key to move the carriage left.
  2. Position the wiper blade under the carriage.
  3. Locate Scarp the Ink Stack Height.
  4. Objective: Light contact with the carriage.
  5. Example: Change value from 7,300 to 8,000.
  6. Click Confirm.
  7. Verify solid contact without bending.
  • No bending of the wiper blade.

Final Functional Verification

  1. Perform a head cleaning.
  2. Verify during cleaning: Ink droplets appear after initial cap contact.
  • Wiper blade wipes the print head cleanly.
  • Cap is close but not touching during flash step.

Saving and Exporting Firmware

  1. Go to File → Save → OK.
  2. Go to Operation → Initialize.
  3. Go to Firmware → Export Firmware Configuration.
  4. Save file in a secure location.
  5. Include the current date in the filename.
  6. Go to Firmware → Export Firmware Configuration Parameters.
  7. Save with date included in filename. END OF PROCEDURE
