Chapter 1 – Identify the Error

  1. Attempt to print or run a nozzle check.
  2. Watch the carriage behavior: Carriage moves left.
  3. In Pilot software, click the light bulb icon (bottom right) to view errors.
  4. Confirm you only have error code **013047** labeled **“Print pass data was unfinished.”**
  5. Perform a firmware reset: Use your previously exported backup firmware, or
  6. If error **013047** continues after the firmware reset, proceed to the next section.
  • Carriage stops.
  • After about 1 minute, carriage returns home without printing.
  • If you have additional error codes, stop here—this guide is not for that situation.
  • Use the default firmware from the Quick Start Guide PDF.

Chapter 2 – Understand the Cause

  1. Understand what triggers this error: One or more ribbon cables on the daughterboard has been shorted.
  2. Understand the troubleshooting logic: With **no ribbon cables plugged into the daughterboard**, you should **not** get error 013047.
  • This usually happens when a ribbon cable contacts ink or another liquid.
  • You will plug cables back **one at a time** to identify the shorted cable.
  • There may be **more than one** shorted cable.

Chapter 3 – Troubleshoot the Ribbon Cables

What you need

  • Recommended method for organization:
  • Remove the cables **one row at a time**.
  • Tape each row together using masking tape.
  • Label the tape with row numbers so you can reinstall in order.
  • Handling precautions:
  • Wear gloves, or
  • Avoid touching metal contact points (finger oils can cause shorts).
  1. Move the carriage to the center of the printer bed.
  2. Power the printer OFF.
  3. Remove the daughterboard cover: Loosen two screws on the left side.
  4. Remove all ribbon cables from the daughterboard.
  5. Once all cables are removed: Lay the cables over the daughterboard area.
  6. Power the printer ON and wait for **Status: Idle**.
  7. Run a nozzle check.
  8. Confirm behavior with no cables installed: Carriage moves normally.
  • Loosen two screws on the right side.
  • Remove the cover.
  • Wiggle as little as possible—contact points are delicate.
  • Place the daughterboard cover on top to keep them protected.
  • Nozzle check prints.
  • No error codes appear in Pilot.

Repeat Test One Cable at a Time

  1. Press and hold the left arrow key to move the carriage to the center.
  2. Power the printer OFF.
  3. Remove the daughterboard cover.
  4. Plug in the first ribbon cable only.
  5. Plug-in technique: Align the teeth to the port first.
  6. Lay remaining unplugged cables safely over the daughterboard.
  7. Install the daughterboard cover.
  8. Power the printer ON and wait for **Status: Idle**.
  9. Run a nozzle check. EXPECTED RESULTS
  10. If you find a shorted cable: Power OFF.
  • If you used masking tape, tear off only the first cable/row section you’re testing.
  • Press straight down with even pressure across the cable width until fully seated.
  • If the cable is good:
  • Carriage moves normally.
  • Nozzle check prints normally.
  • No error codes appear.
  • If the cable is shorted:
  • Carriage moves left and freezes.
  • After a couple minutes, it returns home without printing.
  • Pilot shows error **013047** again.
  • Unplug that cable.
  • Mark the masking tape as “shorted/malfunctioning.”
  • Leave it unplugged and continue testing the remaining cables one at a time.
  1. After identifying the shorted cable(s), contact DTF Station Tech Support.
  2. Request assistance to replace the identified shorted ribbon cable(s).
