What you need
- Printer powers on
- Carriage does not move
- Grinding noise during initialization
- Error code 4000 shown in DTF Station Pilot
- Turn the printer on and observe the startup behavior.
- Confirm the printer begins initialization, the carriage does not move, and a grinding sound is present.
- Open DTF Station Pilot and check the error code.
- Verify the error code displayed is 4000.
What you need
- Firmware issue
- Capping station sensor issue
- Capping station mechanical issue
- Motherboard issue
Step 1 – Check Firmware Version
- Open DTF Station Pilot.
- Go to Advance.
- Click Firmware Version.
- Take a photo or screenshot of the firmware version.
- Send the image to your technician.
- Follow technician instructions if a firmware update is required.
- If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.
- Open DTF Station Pilot.
- Click Advance.
- Enter the required password and click Confirm.
- Go to Firmware.
Firmware Backup Warning
What you need
- If no previous firmware backup exists, download the default firmware from the link in the video description.
- Default firmware will reset all printer settings.
Backing Up Current Settings (If Using Default Firmware)
- Before entering the advanced menu, go to the Calibration tab.
- Use the side navigation bar to locate all calibration settings.
- Take pictures of all calibration settings.
- Return to the Advanced menu.
- Go to the Inkstack tab.
- Take pictures of all Inkstack settings.
- Close the window.
- Click Advance on the keyboard.
- Press and hold Control + F12.
- Confirm switches to Factory Mode.
- Enter password 22 222.
- Go to the Boot Initialization tab.
- Take a picture of all settings for later restoration.
- Click Import Firmware Configuration.
- Locate the firmware file with file type BSFX.
- Click Open.
- Check the checkbox and click OK.
- Click OK again.
- Import the firmware configuration parameter.
- Locate the file with file type XTFX.
- Click Open.
- Check the first three checkboxes.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again.
- Go to File and click Save.
- Click OK.
- Go to Operation.
- Click Initialize to save all settings.

- If error persists, continue troubleshooting
Step 3 – Physical Component Check
What you need
- If capping station rises but carriage does not move, suspect capping station sensor
- Turn the printer off.
- Rotate the knob to lower the capping station.
- Ensure the capping station is low enough so the wiper blade does not contact the print head surface or head strike sensor.
- Manually push the carriage to the center of the bed.
- Turn the printer back on.
What you need
- If carriage still does not move and capping station rises, continue to sensor swap test
- Turn the printer off.
- Go to the side of the printer.
- Reseat the capping station sensor cable.
- Inspect connector pins for residue, bends, or damage.
- Clean residue with a lint-free cloth and rubbing alcohol if needed.
- Reconnect the cable securely.
- Go to the back of the printer.
- Reseat the capping station sensor cable at the motherboard.
- Turn the printer back on.
What you need
- If capping station lowers and carriage moves slightly left then stops, sensors are confirmed faulty
- If behavior does not change, suspect sensor cable or motherboard
- Turn the printer off.
- Remove the screw securing the capping station sensor.
- Unplug the capping station sensor cable.
- Remove the screw securing the carriage sensor.
- Unplug the carriage sensor cable.
- Install the carriage sensor into the capping station position.
- Plug in the capping station sensor cable.
- Secure the sensor with the screw.
- Install the capping station sensor into the carriage sensor position.
- Plug in the cable.
- Secure the sensor with the screw.
- Turn the printer on.
What you need
- If sensors are confirmed faulty, proceed to Step 5
- If sensors are not faulty, replace sensor cable first
- If cable replacement does not fix the issue, replace the motherboard
Step 5 – Replace Capping Station Sensor
- Turn the printer off.
- Remove the screw securing the capping station sensor.
- Unplug the sensor cable.
- Plug the cable into the replacement sensor.
- Secure the replacement sensor with the screw.
- Turn the printer on to test.
- Open the back panel to access the motherboard.
- Remove the back panel by removing all eight screws.
- Unplug the cable from the capping station sensor.
- Locate and unplug the corresponding cable from the motherboard.
- Move the cable back and forth to identify its routing path.
- Pull the cable out through the bottom opening.
- Shift other cables and ink tubes as needed to free the cable.
- Carefully guide the cable out from the motherboard side.
- Take the replacement cable.
- Identify the sensor-side connector and motherboard-side connector.
- Guide the motherboard-side connector through the side opening.
- Pull it through slowly until accessible.
- Guide the cable through the bottom opening toward the capping station.
- Plug both ends of the cable into the sensor and motherboard.

- Opening from back to capping station
- Opening from back to motherboard
