Overview of the Color Boost Wizard

  1. Use the Color Boost wizard for black or color garment queues.
  2. Apply this wizard to job files that contain transparency.
  3. Optimize color ink output to achieve more vibrant colors.
  4. Note that Color Boost does not affect areas with a solid white underbase.
  5. Understand that Color Boost affects only the color data, not the white underbase.

Understanding Transparency and Color Data Interaction

  1. Open the Jobs menu.
  2. Select Production Plugins.
  3. Select Transparency / Opacity.
  4. Observe the bottom view showing color data.
  5. Observe the top view showing transparency data.
  6. Understand that transparency data controls how much white underbase is used.
  7. Note that color data is flattened during ripping.
  8. Recognize that transparency reduces color ink to allow the garment to show through.

Purpose of Color Boost

  1. Increase opacity to simulate how solid the color data would appear without transparency.
  2. Reduce the flattening effect applied to color data.
  3. Increase the amount of color ink laid down.
  4. Increase overall saturation of the printed image.
  5. Understand that the effect is similar to reducing midtones in a levels adjustment.
  6. Note that Color Boost affects only color data, not white ink.

Launching the Setup Color Boost Wizard

  1. Open the Q menu.
  2. Select Setup Color Boost.
  3. Choose a file typical of your production work, or select a test file from RIP system targets.
  4. Set the image size.
  5. Click Next.

Configuring and Printing Color Boost Test Charts

  1. Set the range of test values for the charts.
  2. Understand that: A value of 1 represents normal flattening
  3. Click Print Charts.
  4. Print the generated test images.
  • Higher values increase color boost effect

Selecting the Preferred Color Boost Value

  1. Review the printed charts.
  2. Determine which value provides the best color vibrancy without oversaturation.
  3. Enter the selected chart value.
  4. Complete the Color Boost setup process.
