Digirip - How to Change your Varnish Settings

1. Open Digital Factory.
2. Go to the Q menu.
3. Click Properties.
4. Expand the Color Layer section.
5. Select Processing Options.

1. In the Processing Options dialog, review the tabs: The first tab displays White and Color options.
2. Select the Clear options tab.

• The second tab displays Clear and other spot options.

1. Locate the Maximum Ink Percentage setting under Clear options.
2. Understand that this value controls how much varnish is applied.
3. Note the original value is 45.
4. Increase the value if more varnish is required.
5. Optionally type a custom value directly into the field.

• Example: Change the value to 60.

1. Locate the Spread the Clear Ink setting.
2. Understand this controls how much the varnish spreads for durability and color protection.
3. Note the original value is set to 5.
4. Increase the value to spread the varnish more.
5. Decrease the value when printing on items such as black bottles or mugs where less spread is desired.

1. Locate the option to Treat all semi-transparent as opaque.
2. Understand this forces varnish to cover semi-transparent edges.
3. Example use case: Flame graphics with transparent edges.
4. Enable this option if varnish coverage is required in these areas.
5. Leave this option unchecked for most applications, as recommended.

1. Click Layer Profile.
2. Locate the Choke setting for the clear layer.
3. Adjust the choke value: Lower the value into negative numbers to increase clear spread.
4. Adjust the clear layer position left or right as needed.
5. Use this adjustment similarly to head spacing adjustments in Hosonsoft or DTF Station Pilot.

• Raise the value above zero to decrease clear spread.

2. Click OK to save the changes.
3. Confirm the new varnish settings are applied to the queue or print mode.
