Use the Setup Black Removal wizard to automatically remove black from a design so the print blends into a black garment. Use this wizard only for black garments. Understand that the amount of black removal depends on the design, material, and white ink usage. Preparing to Run the Wizard 00:00:40
Ensure there are no jobs in the queue. Open the Q menu. Select Setup Black Removal. Set the page size of the print bed. Example: Set the size to 14 x 16. Select the graphic to use as the print sample. Set the print size to allow multiple samples on one page. Click Next.
Configuring Black Removal Test Values 00:01:10
Set the minimum Knock Me Blackout value. Set the maximum Knock Me Blackout value. Set the increment value. Example configuration: Minimum: 45 Note that lower values result in darker printed shadows. Note that the default Knock Me Blackout value is 60. Click Print Knock Me Blackout Chart.
Reviewing Black Removal Samples 00:01:44
Leave the wizard open. Click the Digital Factory window behind the wizard. Locate the generated jobs in the queue with values from 45 to 70. Right-click a job and select Print, or Click the Print icon above the queue. Print the samples for evaluation.
Selecting the Preferred Black Removal Value 00:02:12
Review the printed samples. Return to the Setup Black Removal wizard. Enter the preferred black removal value. Example: Enter 55. Click Next.
Configuring White Levels for Semi-Transparent Areas 00:02:12
Adjust white levels used in semi-transparent areas. Understand that separation curves control white strength in: Highlights Choose one of the following chart categories: Strong White Midtones Shadows Select Medium White Midtones Shadows for this example. Review the four generated chart options: A3 Note the different starting points for white ink application. For a visual preview: Select a job in the queue. Right-click and select Rip Only. After processing, right-click the job. Select View Raw Data. Use View Raw Data to compare white ink levels. Print the samples for accurate evaluation. Select the preferred option. Example: Select B3. Click Next.
